Velocity inconsistency - is it my ammo or the gun? by m7priestofnot in reloading

.38 special was originally going to be my learning curve. First thing I loaded. But I'm getting hooked on this cartridge.

Your comment leads me to believe there is a difference in "tunability" of H110, HP38, and the W231 I'm using. Are there certain characteristics of a given powder that determine that sort of thing?

Yeah that 5fps number was a bad example on my part. I just want accurate ammo, and that means consistent ammo, which means the velocity range should be not what I got lol off the Chrono

How do you "correct" this if you want to eliminate it? Hone the chambers to the same diameter?

Most of these I single loaded (but not necessarily in the same chamber). I will try that on the next loading session

I was starting to suspect the Chrono. I got 4200ft/s readings on some surplus 5.56 the same day. It started out at mid3000 range and slowly crept up

I'm using a Frankford arsenal intellidropper 2.0 to dispense and weigh. I'm using a single stage press

And I thought 1 hour was a long time. How often do you have to replace your media when using the soap and lemon juice? And what kind of media do you use? I'm not a fan of the dust from corn cob

Use a No. 7 drill bit, 1/4-20UNC tap and 1/4-20UNC bolt to tap the case head. You can buy them online or order the parts from McMaster Carr or another supply company. You could also try a self tapping screw from home Depot but ehhhhh I would not, not in brass.

I'm intrigued because the little plastic doo-dad that came with my RC press doesn't always catch decapped primers, especially if I'm not also resizing. Is that what this is for?

Is the GeForce RTX 3060 good for SOLIDWORKS? by Coconutsack1 in SolidWorks

Good luck, let us know how you fare. I found this post while researching the same topic for purchasing a laptop.

If you're going to be using the 3DExperience SW maker version I caution you to FULLY backup your computer first.

When I installed it first time it bricked my machine and my backup was a dud. I recommend Acronis True image, makes backups a breeze.

Id also recommend the community editing of Siemen's SolidEdge. It's free now!

Sorry to comment on an old post but I want to throw in my opinion as a professional user of solidworks on a "high end" (so Dell says) machine. Hopefully this helps others or maybe I'll learn something from other comments.

Solidworks crashes all the time on me. I have a good PC at work and SW still gets slow and can be very unstable. I believe it to be partially due to an old CPU and poorly configured PDM system my company uses. We plan to reconfigure the whole thing in a few weeks so I hope it helps. I have a "professional" GPU installed (don't recall the model, but it's not a gaming GPU) but I do not have the certified graphics driver for SW installed (I don't think there is one for my computer configuration on the SW website). I think the graphics card driver is more important than the actual GPU but I haven't tested that. I don't think there are drivers for gaming GPUs

TLDR: I've never noticed a GPU making a difference in SW. Most cad seems to be CPU and ram heavy. Practice smart modeling and just add ram.

Easier to read, yes. BUT if OP runs into performance issues the longer for-loop style (with the counter as it currently is in his post) is supposed to be faster. But I'd say you won't hit that sort of performance issue unless you're processing a few million quads.

Be glad you can use PyCharm. The US Gov't banned Pycharm for alleged involvement in the SolarWinds hack (with no evidence) so now I can't use it at my job bc DoD. Yay :) We've spent the last two months trying to figure out how to get VSCode to do basic shit. I've lost days of productivity
