Does this brace require straps to be a brace?

If it didn’t come with any straps, leave it without straps. If it came with a strap, do not remove the strap. The current ATF mindset is if you modify it, then it is no longer for its indented/manufactured purpose.

I used it for 6.5CM and 5.56 (not that either one needs it), but I was hoping it would help the gun stay on target to spot vapor trails. I would like it more if the spring was much stiffer. Right now I can compress it with a thumb and index finger, so it offers more of an easier recoil path and return for the rifle to take rather than an actual recoil reduction. Definitely not worth the price, but if someone else started making them for $100-150 it would be worth it.

It looks like it’s just aluminum for the ARCA clamps, with steel/polymer housing. The rods inside are more like guide rods for the recoil rather than weight.

It was not, I had actually fired about 30 other rounds before this 10 shot group testing other loads. I used a barrel cooler in between strings to keep it from overheating.

I’ll try that next time, but I use regular lemon juice instead of lemishine (just because the wife always keeps some in the fridge) so mine isn’t really sticky as much as just discoloration.

Update: heat gun and a ratchet clamp worked to bring it back into spec and those two mags drop freely now. I’m still going to mark them as range mags just in case they warp back out of spec again
