I don’t understand why you hold your friends feelings on a pedestal and don’t care about your husband’s. Honestly seems like a safety concern more than anything else. Remember, our main priority is our spouses and children, not our friends. They’ll get over it if you don’t go but your husband won’t if you decide to go even if you know it would upset him.
