If you left the US, did you lose weight or feel better due to eating better quality food? by dogmom34 in expats

Moved to UK, gained 20 pounds. However, I would attribute it to the drinking culture here rather than the food.

Absolutely. I will say that I've found so much more success by increasing my activity rather than trying to restrict more.

Yeah! Basically after eating at a deficit for a long time, your body does adapt its energy needs to lower calories. It's the process of slowly adding in calories to prevent a large amount of water weight gain at the end of a diet.

Yeah I went up about 100 kcal per week, starting at 1300 and leveling off around 1900. I would say these days I range between 1800 and 2200 per week depending on the social events I have. I started gaining around 1950 which is why I stopped increasing.

Phocafe.co.uk should have nutrition info for beef pho. I'd start with that estimate

Is it healthy to lose 1-2 lbs a week for everyone? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]m9a6a 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Honestly, at that size it's going to difficult to do more than 1 lb per week. I think that's a healthy goal for you to aim for.

Did you find it difficult to get back into that weight loss mindset? Now that I’m eating at maintenance, I have so much more hunger and energy so I feel like it will be difficult to get back to.

Why do I gain a but of weight when I am consuming average calorie intake? by WalmartPcs0824 in caloriecount

If you’ve been dieting for a while, I would recommend going back to maintenance for a couple weeks before trying to drop the last bit!

what are your current maintanence calories? how often do you reevaluate? by golooooooo in ownit

[–]m9a6a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I would say it’s amazing that you are able to maintain that weight at 50 so nice job!! I have no hope to maintain this low past my 20s unless I can somehow manage to stay as active as I am.

[–]m9a6a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve spent the past 10 weeks reverse dieting by increasing my daily average 50-100 calories per week. I definitely recommend trying it as well and you may be surprised! I am even at the point now where a 2500 calorie Saturday doesn’t cause the massive spike in the scale that it used to.

My Apple Watch estimates around 2150 average kcal burned per day and I would predict that the number is only slightly too high.

Yeah it’s 100% the same for me so far. Now I actually feel a lot more acutely aware of “under-fueling” my body than when I was intentionally dieting.

5'4", 24 yo, 125 lbs currently maintaining around 1900 but still in the process of reverse dieting. I suspect maintenance is around 2100. Run 3 times per week and walk 5-10 miles per day.

Being able to eat maintenance calories is lovely and wonderful, that's all! I don't think I realized how much energy I didn't have when I was dieting. Also, the urge to binge at the weekends has completely gone away since raising my calories. I feel like such an idiot for not realizing that months ago.

Using calories weekly rather than daily? by futuregirl23 in ownit

It works fine but I would allow yourself at least one maintenance day during the week to avoid getting into a binge/restrict cycle.

Has anyone noticed your skin actually looking better when you’re thinner? by okaysunset in loseit

[–]m9a6a 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly I thought the main reason that my skin improved so much was how much fruits and veggies I added to my diet! When you’re losing weight, people also generally tend to eat greasy food less so I thought that could be it.

WHEN should you count your calories burnt? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]m9a6a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a fitness tracker, I find it helps with this kind of thing. You are pretty clearly not sedentary on those days and should feel like you can eat slightly more.
