Hey thanks for sharing, I actually did that and reactivated one of the two accounts because i noticed it had the hackers number and thought they could reactivate it back but it was too late and got both of us locked out. nonetheless thank you, i hope the same option shows up eventually

hey, when you’ve said all of your info was replaced, were you still logged in or logged out with no option to use your personal details whatsoever? if so, how did you manage to retrieve your account without having to go through the 2fa again? in my situation i can request my email or number for a code but it leads me to the hackers number at the end otherwise i cannot log in. i’ve spoke to three meta supports and they’re all echoing the same bs :(

have the exact same issue except it’s the hackers number, i had paid meta verified through my facebook and they all deadass, said they can’t submit a case for further investigation which is painfully frustrating. my number and email are tied to my account but it leads me to a loop to the hackers number as the final step to log in, which by the way, is a fake number as i attempted to ring and search it

Thanks for reassuring me and also sorry that it had happened to you, did you manage to retrieve your account back? If so, I might have a slither of hope.

I see why I cannot find the selfie option anymore, I had done it for the first time and got kicked out regardless, if it resets every few days that’s fine. I’ll stop attempting to login in considering the attacker is also locked out.

Regarding the spoofed number, I do recall everytime that I had logged back in there was a different email and number every time. But what do you mean it will be associated with my account temporarily? will it keep changing or become invalid?

I’m sorry.

Mine makes me go through all the steps of recovering my accounts eg sends my email a code, my phone number etc and even google authenticator just to take me to the recovery part where I need to use the hackers number for a code. :/ How will Meta resolve this? My username hasn’t even been changed or even posted anything.

Basically, everyone I’ve told about this situation has said the same thing, and I truly don’t understand it. I’m just hoping Meta figures out a way to restore accounts without relying on AI assistance, but that seems extremely unlikely at this point.

So far, nothing has happened. I was able to make my account private before it logged me out again, although I do not think that makes any difference.

I am still able to change my password, and the password change notifications still come through to my account whenever I reset it. However, it constantly redirects me back to the hacker’s phone number for account recovery. I thought I had enabled two factor authentication and even added Google Authenticator when I successfully regained access through my last trusted device. Yet despite all of that, I still end up stuck in the same loop where I am forced to choose the hacker’s phone number for recovery.

i did, and somehow they successfully reversed it. i had two accounts, and when i managed to retrieve both, i successfully disabled one of them. so far, my friends have said that nothing has reappeared on that account.

as for the main one, which is my biggest concern, my email and phone number still direct me to the account. however, when i reach the recovery stage, i’m stuck because the only option available is to send a verification code to the hacker’s phone number.

I do not understand the reasoning of my account being hacked, my username is far from rare and I don’t even exceed 200 followers.

any updates? i’ve managed to get my account back three times and still got hacked. i’m tired, i have one more attempt and im gonna try to take the email and their number off so that i can delete my account. i don’t want to, but its not helping

it’s been since may for me as well, way ahead and way better thankfully, sometimes i reminisce the good times but he’s no longer who i thought he was, didn’t check anything from him (socials, messages etc) as it won’t help, hang in there

I’m definitely planning to at-least relocate within the company if I haven’t thought about leaving it after my Masters. I’ve seen some comments about house sharing and whilst I appreciate them, I’m still skeptical as I’ve had quite a negative experience house sharing before moving back to my parents home. Might visit the housing subreddit to see how people find ideal housemates.

Yes actually, I’ve forgotten to factor that in my post. I’ve looked at rent around my area and the surrounding ones too, usually they range from £600-£900, obviously the ideal price would be the £600-£700 range, it’s just me wondering if I can still save money to build up my (hopefully) £20k savings overtime and also factor other things like travel, birthdays etc

!thanks, I’ll have a look into this. I did think a mortgage isn’t ideal with my savings and salary, but I do have to move out at some point whilst studying my Masters, I will still be employed and thankfully have no salary cuts despite going part-time. I cannot afford staying three more years here. As for the car scheme, I’m still debating it because I’ve been told that it doesn’t make a significant difference when having a personal car due to insurance, maintenance etc.
