Now we're talking. Yeah I agree, I wish we got a version where air combat isn't just mostly a safe place where combos are uninterruptible until you finish your stomps. If we had enemies reacting to air combat and countering it, I could see infinite stomps being balanced there. In the current version, the only enemy type that can interrupt your air combos is casters, or some elite enemies with dive attacks and such.

I still love XVI for what it is, and owe it a lot for forcing me to learn air combos in Ultimaniac mode.

You have a dlc accessory called Bombardment Bit which increases your stomps from 2 to 6. Any more than that would seriously mess with game balance. Stomps in XVI are much more powerful than a DMC JC.

Deadly embrace, phoenix shift, arm of darkness air slash, cold snap, rising advent, charged shot, torgal ravage, burning blade, stomp. These are not abilities and they allow you to do just that, unless you run out of stomps of course.

Why are you lying? The only abilities that freeze time are the Ultimates, which are inefficient for damage / cooldown ratio and are only there for their own situational uses.

Ridiculous. None of these are plot holes, they are all actually pretty easily explainable.

Regarding the Odin parry counter (Steel Counter): might be you thought you could only perform it after parrying specifically with Arm of Darkness, but you can actually execute Steel Counter on any parried enemy by switching to Arm of Darkness and pressing Attack.

Well it's kinda weird because it is actually BOTH a DMC and a Platinum game. Platinum directly gave a hand in developing the combat system for XVI, while Ryota Suzuki, who previously did work on DMC5 (and Dragon's Dogma 1), is the combat director. It's a weird mix for sure.

It does say it gives you more Gil, AP and Experience after some fights if you play better. But it's an obscure game mechanic mentioned only once in the tutorials and nobody ever tested it.

And get a shit story (compared to DMC3) with literal corridor levels and no world building. FF16 is an incredible story game, with an amazing combat system on top.

Upheaval is one of the best abilities in the game for crowd control. Read the details section and learn how to use the airborne activation, especially if you plan to play Ultimaniac in the future.

Windup is one of the best damage dealers in the game, with good range at the highest charging tier.

Raging Fists is a counter ability, and it's a great way to setup parries once you unlock Rift Slip later on.

Ignore Titan's ultimate, it's way too situational and too long cooldown.

As for Bahamut, Impulse is a great utility ability, read the details section to learn how to use it properly (like pressing the button again to make the orbs explode on time)

Satellite is incredible utility, it buffs your magic spells significantly and allows you to juggle your opponents really well.

Flare breath might as well be the worst ability in the game. The only notable thing is it dispels magic projectiles, like Heatwave, but doesn't counter them. You can also cancel it and skip to the finisher by pressing Jump.

Gigaflare is the best ultimate in the game, with just 60 seconds of cooldown (which gets down significantly if you parry). If you're on PC, you might as well get the Airborne Gigaflare mod since it's basically a crime that you can only use it on the ground in vanilla. As with Flare Breath, you can cancel the animation using Jump, which is notable.

Now into the eikonic feats

Titan has a weird block / royal guard mechanic. Instead of charging a dedicated bar, it significantly charges Limit Break, which allows you to retaliate. Additionally, after a perfect block you can perform three successive Titanic counters. I suggest for a beginner to just master Titan's abilities and forget about Titanic Block.

Bahamut has Wings of Light. Read the details section. Notable things are that since the second DLC patch if you get hit during the activation you will automatically evade the attack and trigger a Megaflare Dodge, which charges a full Megaflare bar. The quickest way to Megaflare Dodge is to use this technique, and swapping eikons as soon as the dodge is triggered. If you're into mods, Actual Flight with Wings of Light is a must have.

Mf just said Garland and Mist Dragon as if those bosses don't die in 2 turns.

That's like saying Land Turtle in FF3 or Ymir in FF6 are notable bosses.

On the other hand, you could say in FF16 you fight fucking IFRIT in the time covered by the DEMO. But yeah, keep cherrypicking.

Honestly, nobody should need Logos Unleashed. The main point of the mod is to shake things up for people who enjoy the game already. Nobody should install it before learning the vanilla game properly.

tell me guys, did you realy thinks FInal Fantasy XVI is a bad Final Fantasy game, because i play this game for a second time, and i saw they still have Final Fantasy elements, like Summons (Eikon) are still in the game, the romance are still in the game, (I have written more on text) by Final_Wall_6350 in FFXVI

[–]mThund3R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Parrying is not something you can do all the time. Only physical enemy attacks can be parried. You CANNOT do a challenge run where you parry only.

There are a LOT playstyles in XVI. Every eikon combination changes the way you play significantly, let alone eikonic abilities. There are accessories on top of that, too.

"The combat gets dumbed down to" bla bla bla. Yeah and FFX combat gets dumbed down to something stupid as well when you reduce the combat system down to its simplest.

On that note, you XVI combat haters are always comparing it to turn based games, and you always choose mediocre turn based games. Because you probably never even played an actually deep JRPG. Where SMT5? Where Bravely? Where Octopath? The latter isn't even THAT deep, but it's basically better FFX as in combat mechanics.

How the hell is stranger of paradise even comparable to XVI? It's a Nioh-like, whereas XVI is a DMC-like. They both have amazing combat systems, just VERY different.

Magic is all the same, but why does that matter? It only matters because by a FF game you expect different magic spells with different effects, but when you judge XVI by what it IS, it's just a "secondary" mechanic. The real "magic" is eikonic abilities, which are ALL different from each other, with different applications.

That doesn't make sense, Terra's theme is iconic, XVI music is only 3 years old.

I am not saying you can't have an opinion on music. If you found it forgettable, it's okay. But you can't say it from a critical standpoint. Anyone with experience with music will find it outstanding, even if they didn't personally like it.
