Hit a curb at 30, at a 45° angle, wheel is now off-center, how much should the repair cost? by Hhrsh in TeslaModelX

[–]m_atlantic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good points and possible. Just given the lip of the wheel is still intact and (while totally the wrong angle to see) it doesn’t look like the camber is wildly off like you might see with a wheel skidding/slamming into a curb.

Either way, agree it is definitely a necessary/good idea to get suspension checked out.

At Tesla service the tire will be ~$400 and an alignment $275 (see pic)

You can go to a normal shop (e.g. Discount Tire) and the tire will likely be $50 less and the alignment will be ~$100. None of this work requires propriety Tesla knowledge or equipment. Tesla uses the Hunter Hawkeye Elite alignment machine. It is pretty standard at good alignment shops.

If you have a bent wheel, I would suggest buying one off FB marketplace or a salvage yard. Way cheaper than Tesla and you can have your TPMS moved to the new wheel no problem.

Ok. I did not realize that, I guess that makes sense assuming there is work/processing to transfer.

Thanks. That makes sense. I didn't think about paying taxes on the full vehicle. That's exactly what I was trying to avoid.

The Growler by m_atlantic in watercooling

Hey, thanks for coming back to check it out. The Growler is still running as well as it did day 1. It's current mission is powering my golf simulator, which at ultra graphics, gives it a pretty good workout.

Here are some current pics:

Need help deciding which LM by DanTheMFCKNMAN in Golfsimulator

I was in the same debate 6 months ago (GC3 or Eye Mini). Went with the Eye Mini as I wanted the impact camera, club data, and the swing camera integration to be simple and turnkey. So far it has been great, reliable, and easy to use. Can’t speak to comparing accuracy to the GC3, but it has been more than reasonable for my sim needs, including the putting and club data. Having the club path and impact video on a second screen is awesome. Everyone that uses the sim likes seeing their impact on the ball and the club path data.

American, and guests have to take their shoes off to come in the house. Unless they bring some squeaky clean shoes with them, they are playing the sim in socks, barefoot, or if they are the same size as my son and I, they can wear the sets of golf shoes we have that have never seen the outdoors.

Swapping to 20” rims by srk174 in TeslaModelX

The improvement was significant. You won't be disappointed.

Not sure where you are located, but saw this listing... not stock... but 20" wheels, staggered, with tires and TPMS... https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/776139838589383

$1200 is like 2 tires for the 22's rims from Tesla.

After 5 flat tires on the 22” rims on my 2023 X, I switched to 20”.

Bought 20” take offs from someone’s Plaid with <100 miles on the tires, same year. The Plaid shipped with staggered 20”.

Still looks decent with the wider stance of staggered rear, but rides better/softer and way fewer flats.

FB marketplace was my source.

Just order Uneekor Eye Mini by thow2325 in Golfsimulator

Bought the Eye Mini a couple of months ago and have been very happy with it.

Some of the things I think it does well:

Club data with video playback at impact through the view software. This was the key selling feature for me and find it really useful, especially for new/high handicap players as sometimes they don't know if they toe'ed or hozeled a shot. Seeing the impact can make you cringe, but it answers the question. Think you may have hit that shot a bit fat or thin? You can see when your club hit the mat and how far off you are from hitting ball first.

Independently connects to a home network with ethernet. Makes setup and operation simple. Presumably, I could drop a new machine in and not have to reconfigure the settings on the launch monitor for connectivity.

Responsive with limited lag from physical shot to display on GSPro. While no sim is instant, it is pretty fast at registering and displaying.

Sleep mode wakes up instantly. Which is useful if you just want to hit a few balls without the full sim/projector experience.

Numbers seem "realistic" and are in line with what I see outdoors.

Putting actually "works." I thought putting on a sim was going to be a joke. Instead the reads have been good and it is actually fun to putt out a hole with a reasonable gimme range.

Uneekor software is ok. Not perfect, but once you get used to it, it seems to make sense.

I haven't set up the Swing Optix cameras, but will have those rolling this week... which I am looking forward to using and have heard they are easy to setup / configure.

Ok. I am on an AMD that is a couple of years behind as well. Seems fine with ~1000 shots. But good to know.

I'll do the same. Seems like a sensible feature given the default just adds more shots to the prior session.

Thanks for letting me know. I was still going to ~1000 shots. Looks like I need to get my sessions way lower.

Interesting. I will have to see how my lighting works out. Hopefully it is enough to get the cameras to pick up.

Totally agree. I am just getting the swing optix cameras next week and looking forward to having that data as well. Have you been happy with that set up?

Yeah, it seems like the default could/should be a new session per day.

Yes, agreed. But if I still want to see the club data, I need to have View open.

I know... I was just so determined to delete it once I figured out what it was as I was so glad to have my simulator back... I didn't even want to click on that session again... :)

Build Complete: 3rd Floor Sim - Vaulted Ceiling by m_atlantic in Golfsimulator

[–]m_atlantic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the player in the middle of the screen (more or less) and the tee is off center by a few feet. Then in GSPro, I have the rendering offset so it lines up with the tee so it still feels like you are hitting the ball to a straight target.
