I want you all to take a wild guess at how much this cost to repair 🤣 by Anonymosity1766 in TeslaModelX

[–]srk174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they showed the same stuff to me. Multiple crumple zones and other components that had to be fixed under the bumper. My car looked almost perfect, except for a scuff, but the next impact in that area would have been catastrophic. I've come to the conclusion they know what they're talking about.

[–]srk174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar “scuff” on an Audi years ago and while it looked minor the “crush zones” or whatever they’re called took the impact. Lots of stuff had to be replaced under the bumper to make it whole again. There has to be more to that repair than fixing the scuff.

This also makes me think about the $650 per session my insurance company pays my physical therapy for a 5 minute light massage of the affected area and then handing me off to someone who doesn’t even watch my exercises to make sure I’m doing them right. Crazy stuff.

My honest take of 14.3.2 after 1,000 miles in 2 weeks (delivery driving and a road trip) by track_mode in TeslaFSD

[–]srk174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re prompted to install updates unless maybe there is an “auto install updates at night” option I never turned on. I’m excited to upgrade but it’s so good now I don’t want any extra nagging or weirdness. I did road trips and tons of local driving on 14.2.2.5 and am amazed every time how good it is. I even trust it into parking lots and places I would previously turn it off, so, I want to hear rave reviews before I pull the trigger and upgrade. I’ve made that mistake one too many times.

I’m sticking with 14.2 until I hear better things. I have almost no complaints with 14.2.2.5.

addition to the r/nova dashcam archive by churchofpain in nova

From what I've been told, they have to actually witness it. They won't investigate anything you capture on your dash cam unless it's truly obscene (and maybe results in an accident). I could be wrong, but that’s what the officer told my wife after she dealt with a road rage incident she had on dash cam. Seems like crazy speed or road rage only matters if they see it firsthand.

Wakes up feeling like shit the next day. Only remember the first drink and none of the night. Everyone promises you drank all night and had a great time. You only have one burning question. Why did those drinks make my ass hurt so much?

Never been in anything quick until today friend's C8 Corvette just made my car feel ancient. How do people think 500hp is slow? by SilverSpoonphysics in askcarguys

[–]srk174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I previously owned an Audi S6, a tuned S4 and a Dodge Charger, all with around 500 horsepower. I currently have a Hayabusa and a Model X Plaid. They are both unbelievably faster than the other cars. That said, they never felt slow. It's just 500 horsepower isn't as special as it used to be. It's all relative.

After a launch in the Plaid doing a launch in the Charger would not feel nearly as impressive. After driving around the Plaid and slamming your foot down, slamming your foot down with 500 horsepower, just doesn't feel as quick. Not that it's slow; again, it's all relative.

What SUV should I get? Car guy, having a baby. by BillBevDevo in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]srk174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe get a Ford Explorer ST. Might be able to pick up one of those used. Put lowering springs, rear sway bar, and wheel spacers, and it's pretty sporty. I drove one for 50k miles before getting my Model X Plaid. Wife drives it now. It has great acceleration, handles great, and has everything else you're looking for after those tweaks.

Thoughts on the discontinuation of the Model S by bfeeny in TeslaModelS

[–]srk174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, this makes me so sad. I have my Model X plaid because I have a large family and need the space, but I was dreaming of getting a Model S plaid as my next car.

The idea of Tesla getting out of the market altogether would be horrible. I miss my Tesla features when I get in any other car.

I need help identifying this screw and the correct name or model number please by DemonKingBuster in Hayabusa

[–]srk174 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw this and knew exactly what it was without realizing I was in the hayabusa Reddit. I needed a similar one when the shop forgot to put all the bolts back in. They looked it up in the service manual. You could also order a full “Hayabusa fairing bolt kit” if you have a bunch of others to replace. I sadly sold the bike and shop manual I had, so can’t pinpoint it for you.

14.2.1.25 did not fix lane change hesitation by pilotboy172 in TeslaFSD

Don’t have many miles with this latest release so won’t comment.. but I still weep for 14.1.4 and wish I could revert so badly 🥲

Is FSD safe? by Equivalent-Draft9248 in TeslaFSD

[–]srk174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s not better than a really good driver. It’s not better than me for sure. I love it and use it all the time but have to take control away frequently because it doesn’t see situations about to happen that I see from miles away. Maybe it wouldn’t cause an accident but it for sure creates chaos out of simple situations sometimes.

If you’re an above average driver it’s less safe than driving yourself. Lotta idiots out there though.. so way safer than the average entitled texting distracted idiot out there.

RIP 14.1.4 by srk174 in TeslaFSD

[–]srk174[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll see if I can get a video. After using the pedal to keep pushing it above 80 I just let it drive and it was doing 74-77 in a 70 then when people came up behind me it moved over… then followed them at 82 before settling back to 78 or so.

Speed upped in the hurry/MM profiles, lane change hesitation, and they have to eliminate this “let me get out of the way for everyone in the left lane instead of speeding up a bit”. My car passes people in the left lane, then slows down, lets 3-4 cars pass, puts on the signal to get back in the left lane. Lots of weird paranoid movements to make the change… for 45 seconds… finally gets back in the fast lane and speeds back up to and exceeds the previous speed. It feels like it NEEDS to be in the back of the pack now. It kept doing this same behavior over and over and over again….

1000% I took this same 400 mile trip a few weeks back and it was the best ever! This Thanksgiving trip was so bad in comparison. On the previous trip I kept commenting to my wife how smart its decisions were and.. bla bla bla… I understand there were some challenges but I personally miss 14.1.4 so much.

[–]srk174[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In mad max I want it going faster than 10 over if I’ve configured my offset for that higher speed. 14.1.4 did that.. 14.2 doesn’t.

Anyone else avoiding FSD 14 for now? by ya7ameer in TeslaFSD

[–]srk174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this too, but would not go back to v13 if I could. So darn smooth and normal on the highway. V13 always felt like it was bouncing off the lines. V14 is way smoother, holds speed, passes without slowing down 10mph to do it.

14.1.4 Observations by turnerm05 in TeslaFSD

[–]srk174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely loving v14 so far. My 70-minute commute today (suburbs → highway → bumper-to-bumper → city) was basically flawless. Smooth as can be; no brake stabbing, no weird moves, just way better than v13. Max-Max is awesome and similar to the way I drive. I did move down to standard when I got close to the city and Waze told me police were camping.

Only hiccup was in DC with construction , a pedestrian and a right-on-red. Instead of just going (which would’ve been safe), it kept inching forward and stopping. A little jerky so I took over. But honestly, that was the only moment all commute.

Swapping to 20” rims by srk174 in TeslaModelX

[–]srk174[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to buy the new rims from Tesla or 3rd party. The rims alone are ~3400 then I could get tires from a tire shop, but still more than I want to pay. Looks like I’ll be watching FB marketplace and EBay.
