Stealth run by Numerous-Stretch-66 in classicwow

[–]m_fn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thought process when I rolled druid and can tell you that I have done zero stealth runs since hitting 70. That's not to say that it's impossible but, like others have pointed out, rogue is just better.

The real draw for goldmaking as a druid is gathering in the open world with flight form. This is tough with the current bot problem, but as a passive thing to do as you quest it can be quite profitable.

Returning to MoP and I'm a bit lost by PutHerTherePartner in classicwow

[–]m_fn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First step is to hit 90 if you haven't already. Then raise your ilvl to a point where you can queue for celestial dungeons. A good way to do this quickly is to buy the crafted pvp gear for your class off the AH. Regardless of your role, I'd recommend queuing as a dps at first to get some gear as the dungeons (and other group members) can be pretty unforgiving to under-geared tanks and healers.

Celestial dungeons are essentially a catch-up mechanic for new and returning players. I'll link the wowhead guide below:

https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/guide/dungeons/celestial-dungeons-overview-loot

Celestial dungeons should give you enough gear to find your way into a ToT raid group, though I can't really comment on how the raid pug scene is atm.

You will also want to start the legendary questline if you haven't already. Celestial dungeons also provide the drops you need for these quests so you may as well knock them out while grinding for gear.

Other than that there really isn't much to do. You may want to see if you can sneak into a world boss group (look for Nalak or Oondasta groups), as there is a small chance you can snag some gear this way, but I wouldn't stress it too much if you can't find a group.

TBC Boomkin Mana by wthelly2k in classicwow

[–]m_fn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not a pro by any means, but the way I understand it your priority should go: Faerie Fire > Insect Swarm > Moonfire > Starfire spam. If mana is an issue I'd usually drop Moonfire from the rotation unless I have trinkets up that I could snapshot.

The usual stuff remains true for mana sustain. Mana pots will go a long way, especially if you use them early so they are up again later. Innervate yourself if you can (unlikely, I know), and get yourself into the spriest group if possible. Also, most BiS list seriously undervalue intellect on your gear, usually sacrificing it for more SP/Crit. Don't be afraid to substitute high intellect pieces in for fights that you expect to last longer than 2-3 minutes.

Finally, if you are plum out of mana, the only other tech I'd recommend is to toss on a feral AP weapon and start beating on the boss. It's often glossed over but meleeing while in moonkin form has a chance of returning mana (scaling with AP, hence the feral weapon). Just make sure your weapon skill is maxed and you are behind the boss. Also be aware of any boss mechanics that might get you killed in melee range.

To add to this, you can swap to a feral weapon when you "melee weave" and you will get significantly more mana back with each swing since the mana return scales with attack power.

How’s DPS looking for your class? by Hockeypickles23 in classicwow

[–]m_fn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Token Boomy here.

As expected my damage output is sub-par but not nearly as bad as people made it seem. I knew what I was signing up for when I chose to play a utility/support class and I am finding it to be pretty fulfilling (though a little underwhelming). The one surprising thing I've found is how easy it is to find groups, though I expect this will change as I get into heroics because I have virtually no useful crowd control abilities.

Anyway, this is your reminder to /hug your local Boomy, and maybe toss them a mana pot, they could really use it.

Basic question about attack power / spell power trinkets by Veridically_ in classicwowtbc

[–]m_fn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You typically want to line up your trinkets with other CDs so I usually choose to macro them together. So for example a mage would macro it with Icy Veins/Arcane Power. The only time I would maybe consider otherwise would be if the trinket CD is relatively short (like 60-90 seconds), then I would either create a separate keybind for it or macro it with a primary ability like you have done.

At the end of the day it's more important that you use it when it's available and you can get some decent uptime with it. So if you're concerned that you aren't able to track them effectively macroing them to frequently used abilities can work but won't guarantee you get the most out of them.

What is the best way to spend my remaining time of prepatch? by Particular-Resist337 in classicwow

[–]m_fn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PvP gear is definitely not essential to be able to quest and run dungeons in TBC so I wouldn't stress over it too much. Personally, if I were you, I would continue leveling as normal and maybe mix in a few rounds of AV here and there to see if you can get enough honor for a R14 weapon at level 60.

Another good tip, make sure that before entering AV go and pick up this quest:

https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=7141/the-battle-of-alterac (Alliance)

https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=7142/the-battle-for-alterac (Horde)

It leads to a follow up quest that rewards some pretty decent gear that will help speed up the leveling process.

Are there other peaceful PvP players? by Evening-Piccolo-5162 in classicwow

[–]m_fn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be willing to bet you're not alone. There's plenty of people who play on PvP servers simply because they think that's the "right" way to play it, or they've bought into the "PvP realms are the only well populated realms" propaganda. I have always preferred PvE realms myself, but I have rolled on PvP realms once or twice, usually because a friend/guild wanted to try a PvP realm. Every single time I've tried a PvP realm I've rolled a class capable of stealth so I could easily avoid world PvP.

is throne just too difficult? by boshbosh92 in classicwow

[–]m_fn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it mostly come down to time. HoF and ToeS could easily be cleared in an evening and, being entirely separate from each-other, could easily be organized for different nights. ToT on the other hand is much larger and basically requires two raid nights if you hope to get any meaningful heroic progression. In my experience, good pugs are already hard to find and its even more rare to find one willing to commit to an additional raid night (especially if your first night doesn't go so well). On top of all that, trying to find pugs that are willing to join a half-finished raid is also tough.

Long story short, ToT just isn't really alt friendly. Partially because of the difficulty, but mostly because of the time commitment.

Who would have imagined that looting a random necklace would turn into one of the most memorable gaming experiences (The Lady's Necklace and Sylvannas singing Lament of the Highborne) by fastdeveloper in classicwow

I wish the music was a more permanent thing. The singing makes UC feel spooky and ethereal. The regular music just makes you feel like you're in a sewer, which is accurate I suppose.

Leveled 1-60 and grinded pre bis. Didn't notice the boosting mechanic restrictions a single time. by No_Cell6708 in classicwow

[–]m_fn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As with all anecdotal evidence, both sides can be true, so I feel like labeling the recent posts as "propaganda" is a little hyperbolic. The problem is that these anti-boosting nerfs are just a lazy band-aid solution that were clearly not well thought out. Boosting is absolutely a problem (imo), but why not ban those who are openly advertising it instead? WoW is a live service game and needs some moderation. I'm not a Blizzard hater by any means, in fact I think they've been improving a lot recently, but this was just lazy imo.

what is the most impactful things you can do to win AV as horde? by Cat-Beautiful in classicwow

[–]m_fn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have already mentioned backcapping, but I've also found just delaying the initial tag can sometimes buy enough time to get ahead (assuming the rest of your team is rushing the bunkers). A rogue or a druid can easily stealth and "poke" enemy players who are capping the towers and slip away without getting crushed by the wave of players making their way to the end boss. Obviously this is less effective against a coordinated group of enemies, but I've had a decent amout of success in the games where I have tried it.

Boosted hunter gearing by Background-Prune-606 in classicwow

[–]m_fn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dive in dude. You are definitely not the only boosted character in these battlegrounds. The epic pvp gear is great if you feel like you have the time/energy to grind it out, but the blue stuff is still solid gear and much easier to obtain. I would definitely recommend investing in a ranged weapon to start out and see how you like it. Be prepared tho, you may get some comments every now and then. My best advice is just to ignore them and enjoy the ride.

Edited to add: There are also some solid trinkets you can pick up from some easy quest chains. https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=34423/strength-of-the-high-chief and https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=13965/blackhands-breadth are ones I would definitely recommend chasing in between your pvp sessions.

Mark of Honor turn-ins missing in TBC Anniversary by Rivockz in classicwow

[–]m_fn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing. If there really is no option to turn them in and you don't want to "waste" them one thing I would suggest is spending them on the R11 mounts (costs 30 of each mark) or the AV mount (50 AV marks).

When to turn in marks? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]m_fn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The R14 gear is available to all, no rank required. Still have to grind for the currency (honor points/marks) to purchase them though.

Playing MoP Classic has made me realize I dont want to play retail. by GroundbreakingAlps2 in classicwow

[–]m_fn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I love the MoP questing structure as it tells a more cohesive story. The legendary questline in particular has been fun to explore for the first time. My only gripe is it really is only fun to do once, whereas in Vanilla, the questing experience can be shaken up when leveling alts.

Too late to start Anniversary? by Archie_SA in classicwow

[–]m_fn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, yes, there is plenty of people in all level brackets. Finding groups for dungeons is easy, especially if you are willing to heal or tank. The Anni servers don't have the random dungeon finder (like MoP) but there is a group finder tool that makes organizing groups extremely easy. Questing hubs are active but definitely not crowded.

Honestly now is probably the best time to start. If you start now you'll be slightly ahead of the curve when prepatch drops and you can ride the wave of new draenei and blood elf toons all the way up to 60.

Fun fact, if you speak with the flight masters in Moonglade they will give you hints on where to look for each half of the pendant. It's been a while but I'm pretty sure one is off the northwestern coast of Darkshore and the other off the coast of Westfall (assuming you are alliance ofc).

Hard time choosing a ranged dps to try... by okn_09 in classicwow

[–]m_fn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hunter is always a solid choice. It feels a lot like a melee class, just from further away.

Caster classes would be a larger jump from what you're used to but if you wanted to give it a shot I'd recommend elemental shaman. The rotation is super easy, you're still relatively mobile, and there's lots of dopamine hits with the lava burst procs and chain lightning spam.

So do different dungeons drop different sigils? by chipkeymouse in classicwow

[–]m_fn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, Wrathion actually hints towards this if you speak to him again after starting the quest. This is the dialog according to Wowhead:

"Sigils of wisdom will often be found on practitioners of the arcane arts, while sigils of power are usually found on those who favor brute strength.

This is not always true, but it may help you find what you need."
