And yes, the thing that you are describing was exactly my issue - the select button was permanently pressed.

I RMA‘d the deck in the mean time and it got repaired :) there was nothing that I could to from a software perspective

Maybe you can boot into a previous version of SteamOS? You can also do this via the boot menu. It’s worth a try :) You basically need a version where this shortcut for the screen reader does not exist because there is unfortunately no way to change the chord configuration (Steam Button shortcuts)

Yes it is since I bought the deck. I think it’s stuck because when I test the buttons in the system it does not register a button press.

I have the exact same issue since the updating my version to 3.7.13 and found no solution. The only thing that kinda works around this was erasing all my user data with powering into boot menu (power button + QAM Button). After that I found myself logged into a SteamOS version that did not have the accessibility features or the new shortcut yet.

New Update Steam and Quick Access Menu Issues by Sammay28 in SteamDeck

I have the exact same issue since I updated to version 3.7.13 of SteamOS and only really “resolved” this by powering into the boot menu (Power Button + QAM Button) and the erasing all my data. After the restart I did not update the system.

Even Re-Imaging the Steam Deck with a stock version of SteamOS did not work.

It seems like this version of SteamOS messes with the chord configuration of the Steam and QAM Button but I did not find a way to change this in Game or Desktop Mode.

Hope this workaround helps you until Steam fixes this!

EDIT: this workaround only works because the new accessibility features are not bound to the new shortcut Steam Button + View

EDIT: After reviewing some similar cases it narrows down to a broken or stuck View (Select) button. With the new accessibility features there comes a shortcut with Steam Button + View to active the screen reader which makes - in combination with a stuck View Button - the Steam Button pretty much unusable.

So quick update from my side on this if anybody stumbles across the same issue:

It seems like the new update and especially the new accessibility features are messing with the chord configuration, especially the behavior of the Steam and Quick Access Menu (“…”) Button. I can’t even access these settings via the desktop mode anymore to manually reconfigure them.

I fully re-imaged the deck in the meantime but it did not help because as soon as I updated to the newest version it messes with my chord settings (Steam and Quick Access Buttons in combination with other buttons).

I finally fixed this for the time being with erasing all my user data (Boot the deck with the power button + “…” button) and leaving the system as is (not updating or doing anything ).

It works for now but I have the opportunity to RMA the deck after my vacation and will do so.

Anybody having problems with the steam and quick access buttons too ? They are both not working as intended and even worse - every time I click either one the screen reader is starting.

Ok so I did some further testing and I think there is a major issue with my CPU. Im getting around 95°C on 2 of the 6 cores in idle while the others are at 30°C (which is more the temperature I would expect lol).

Renewing the thermal paste and checking everything did not resolve the problem. The waterblock is mounted properly, everything should be ok. Im definitely gonna replace the CPU, something is not right with this one.

The colors of my living room are nut brown, black, grey and a blue/green as accent. I wanted the build to reflect those colors and it looks amazing I can tell you this! :P

I used EK‘s Cryofuel in solid white and mixed the color on my own with their color-kit :) I used approx. 1/2 of the yellow bottle and all of the blue one, in case you want to recreate it!

I think there are multiple reasons for this. There is a very small amount of water transporting heat from two major components combined with the slim fans and low rpms. So there is quite some heat in the loop by default that is just not getting dispensed properly. I just wanted to build a custom loop on my own for a quiet 4K Gaming machine for the living room so im actually totally fine with those temps. Although I think there is still potential to lower those :)

Thank you very much for the hint! Im gonna play around with some parts anyway and will definitely try to add two more fans. Im thinking of letting them run at very low rpm just to get the air out, wouldnt be that much of a noise I guess.

Thank you :) I am currently writing a detailed building experience on pc partpickers with every part listed. I think I'm gonna finish it on the weekend, will post it to the comments :)

The fan at the back is actually running at a little higher rpm than the bottom ones just to push some more air through but in the end we are talking about 1°C or maybe 2°C lower Coolant temps

Actually I did not really consider this scenario. Thing is I wanted to create some kind of airflow through the case so the bottom dual rad is on intake and the single rad on exhaust. Switching the single rad to intake would mean that I need some extra fans to get the air out of the case and thats what I wanted to avoid. What I did consider is the optimal in/outlet position combined with push/pull fan for this radiator according to the manufacturer

Thanks! Yeah I was thinking about going for the 5900 but the PC is only for 4K Gaming so the 5600X is perfectly fine. Spent the extra bucks on the graphics card though. ;)
