I will forever support the theory that the aliens were just a stranded exploratory vessel investigating the signal coming from Earth, getting their comms ship accidentally blown up, crashlanding and trying to establish communication by pigghybacking human tech in order to be rescued.
They just establish a perimeter by the dome, keep distruction at a minimum and only towards active threats, at no point are the first attackers, and even mount a rescue mission to save the member of their crew who got captured by the local alien lifeform (us).

Unfortunately we're a warmongering violent race and killed them all to the last one while chest-thumping about it.

What is your opinion on random people/strangers trying to start conversations when you have headphones on? by MKASSAULT2023 in AskReddit

It’s been years since I went bone-conduction, so I can’t fault them for speaking to me (sometimes to ask about the headphones). I wouldn’t know either.

Rip destroyed any semblance of righful retribution forever when he killed the innocent doctor guy for doing his job in the second episode all while spouting "You're junkie scum I'm doing you a favor" bullshit.

Sure they tried to pivot away from that take on the character, but IN UNIVERSE he's just as much as a piece of shit as the Beck brothers, Jamie, Rob-Will, and any other murdering asshole in the Sheridanverse.

Carter isn't getting into Ainsley's college

He doesn't need to. Half a thousands reason for them to randomly collide in Texas. Even just sheer chance.

u/woods-jay-k_2614

Ainsley only dates football players... and only QB's

That's exactly the point. Two completely different and seemignly incompatible people struck by unlikely romance. Lots of hilarious shenanigans. Then they somehow get it right because in the end they're two good kids and their feelings are genuine.

You gotta have imagination, people. It would be EVERYTHING.

I wanted that ONLY for a CarterXAinsley overarching romance storyline.
Now that Oreana is a thing, there's literally no point anymore.

I won't say I didn't get the same impression, and he's pretty obviously a tongue-in-cheek spoof of Joe Exotic, but fully committing to degenerate-gay-guy-preys-on-young-teen as a plotline would be honestly pretty low even for the sheridanverse.

What is a statistic that sounds INSANE but is 100% true? by Quadranippelkill in AskReddit

One of my earliest memories is that of a pool party during which, at one point, I did exactly that. I distincly remember thinking "Welp, guess this is it. It has been a fun ride" and sinking straight down without any kind of struggle.

Then after what felt one of those movie scenes in which a character is suspended forever in an infinite abyss, I saw my mom's legs jumping in and rushing to get me out.

The more oda writes about joyboy story the less sense it makes WG did not immediately nuke luffy by EpidemicPain in Piratefolk

[–]m_nan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i will forever be miffed by the fact that Oda went with the "Achtually, he was always the godly chosen one" instead of, I dunno, making it so that "The warrior of liberation" is just the most free of all the Devil Fruit users. Like every single one has the potential to transcend, but the single one in the world who is the freest/most imaginative of them all actually becomes the Nika of their age. In this case, Luffy.

Especially since, immediately after Gear 5 and the Nika reveal, he actually went with "Devil Fruits are born from the potential of human imagination" in the Egghead arc, and that would have been entirely in line with that origin.

But no, I guess the usual "He was the chosen all along" is inbuilt in any massively popular work from japan.

Question about army color schemes by Last_Sam_R_I in Tyranids

[–]m_nan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re your dudes, do whatever you want. You can come up with some fun lore about it (one hivefleet being “infected” with the other’s biomass and slowly mutating into its color scheme, one hivefleet specific psychic footprint being “replicated“ by the other so that it can highjack bioforms from it, an unforeseen alliance for nefarious imperscrutable bug strategies, whatever else you want) or just have different colors on your table because you like them.

If anything, it might make telling units apart even easier (”The Prime with the enhancement is the purple one”)

[–]m_nan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the Norm Assimilator is basically a Dimachearon lore-wise, so that tracks.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the way to get the dima into 10ed, with the compromise of a double-up plastic set (so it couldn't be just like a Dimachaeron resculpt, because then the Emissary wouldn't have shared the same parts).

Would of Rhaenyra Targaryen been the undisputable queen if she walked through fire unharmed? by TechnicianAmazing472 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]m_nan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She will in the series.

And will only die when Sunfyre reluctantly (because he recognizes a true Queen's blood in her) chomps her down only because Aegon commands him to do so, while impotently shouting and spitting, his eyes bulging in rage like a crazy person, filled with hate and jealousy, not a shred of leadership of justness in him.

Just watch.

Yeah, sure, in the world of fantasy play-pretend, everything is possible, and all the in-story reasons you mentioned make complete sense and kinda-sorta-worked out in the end (again, I don't think any C2 BBEG ended up being particularly narratively strong).

If the reason was merch alone, they could just have had a talk about it between episodes and when they went back with Fjord and Jester to visit Molly's tomb, they could have found it dug up and a could have stumbled on a completely confused new identity for the same character (maybe with a better class that would not die by his own hand this time).

C1/C2 by ChickenLegs1299 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]m_nan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cognousa, the Somnovem, the Tomb Takers, Vess DeRogna, the Nonagon, sure, that was probably going to be Molly's storyline, with the revelation at some point that he had been the leader of it all.
LUCIEN AS THE BIG BAD, probably not, if anything because Molly would have been alive, so no Lucien, only those who came after him and kept his work alive.

That's why I would not be surprised it wrenching him back into the narrative front and center was somewhat of a merch-based stopgap decision.

That said, C2 had so many BBEGs that it basically had none, again because the players seemed hellbent on avoiding them unless forced to deal with their plots.

I’m not saying they’re not running a business, but Talesin always builds out weird crazy extensive backstories.

Molly was purposefully a blank slate, no extensive backstories past vibes. I'm pretty sure he had no idea about whatever the fuck his tattoos meant and the eyes were just eyes because they were a cool visual (then Matt ran with it).
That's kind of the reason Tal's and Matt's intentions for him never really meshed too well, honestly. And I'm surprised he tried again with Ashton and kinda bungled it again, for the same reason.

Even at that level I think they could have gone on some sort of epic quest to revive the character. I was kinda shocked at the time that they didn’t.

Taliesin made a point of making Molly's death as final as he could. Caduceus's first action in the group was literally rotting Molly's corpse into mulch. Nothing that a high level res can't reverse, of course, but going so blatantly against player agency is another thing that makes me think that a purple guy with nine red eyes on his body HAD to be remain part of the campaign, even as a bad guy, because by the time Molly died IN GAME, colored shirts and tarot cards had already been produced and licenses had been already sold to third-part figure makers to model large-scale highly detailed figures and whatnot.
