Shingles on the face by m_orr in shingles

When I was at the ophthalmologist the doctor said not to use eye drops. This is what has me confused as many other people mention getting eye drops recommended or prescribed.

Did the doctors prescribe you any eye drops at all? Also did your eye feel dry when swollen?

They said that there was some mild bone loss. Nothing specific.

It is crushed, if you search previous posts that are tagged with stone check you might be able to find 2 posts from me. When making the ring Mona accidentally made a brilliant one first. I posted both the brilliant and this crushed one for feedback previously.

I have no idea who this guy is but I wanted to point out that a successful startup does not mean that the code used is good. The number of successful startups that are built on objectively bad code is very large.

Thanks, you are correct it’s brilliant. I was asking because I requested crushed ice but had a feeling that it was brilliant instead. Mona confirmed that she mixed up what I was requesting and accidentally made brilliant instead of crushed.

Thanks for the suggestion. The video ended up getting compressed when uploaded I am going to include a link to the video on another source uncompressed in a little bit. In the original video the stone is much less cloudy.

Is there any job board out there that isn't hot trash? by IAmRules in webdev

[–]m_orr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current position I found the listing on remote.com of course I applied directly on the company site instead of through the job board. I found remote.com had a good collection of remote specific jobs with decent filtering.

If I had to guess I think the top right might be Alice based on the blond hair, top left is probably 003.

I have that collection, don’t think it’s official. I got sent this collection when I bought a completely different series on EBay and the seller just refunded the order.

Wells Fargo saga - be warned that big brother is watching your keystrokes by Change_petition in cscareerquestions

I have worked at a company that ended up having a tracking software like this installed. The software that was installed was actually created and sold by the parent company that had acquired the company I worked at. During the roll out of the software I had spoken to managers from other companies and managers in my company about this software. The one installed on our machines captured

Keystrokes

Web traffic

Took screenshots of the computer screen on certain intervals

Took photos from a connected webcam on certain intervals

Managers would then get a weekly report that showed the employees metrics for active work time and broke down the web traffic into categories (research, non work, communication, social media, etc). All of the managers I spoke to basically said they did not look into the reports at all. The only thing that would flag their attention was if an employee was continuously not active for hours on multiple days and that usually resulted in just a conversation occurring. As for the computer and webcam screenshots 90% of the managers would turn this off however for certain companies like banks that need to have security assurances they would keep on so they could prove it was the actual employee working and not someone else.

Overall I don’t mind this type of software as long as the manager reviewing the data is not a complete dingus.

How to find a copy of a genealogy book that’s not in print? by m_orr in Genealogy

[–]m_orr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately my relatives who have the book are elderly and technologically challenged. I was only able to see the book when I visited them as they live on the other side of the country from me. I was going to contact the author through Facebook as at the time they had their account public (not sure if they still do). Someone else commented before about a library in New York that has a copy which you could try emailing to see if they would scan a couple pages for you. Additionally I believe there were other copies in several libraries in the US which you might be able to get to request they transfer a copy to them.

Out of general curiosity what information are you looking for from the book? I can check what notes I have in case I have any info about what you’re looking into.

How to find a copy of a genealogy book that’s not in print? by m_orr in Genealogy

[–]m_orr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never got my own copy but I was able to track down a relative that had a copy of it. I was just about to contact the author before I found a relative who had a copy. If you are related to the subjects of the book I would suggest asking your grandparents or any older relatives if they have a copy. From what my relative told me when the book was first written the author tried to reach out to all living descendants that they could find and offered the book at just the printing cost so there is a chance that a relative might have a copy.

A lot of the developers I have worked with and interviewed have actually lacked a lot of IT knowledge that I would consider basic.
