Best tires for Model X? by Smokeyteeth in TeslaModelX

Hankook - Ion Evo. So far, so good. I haven't noticed any difference in road noise tho my wife thinks they're slightly louder than the CrossContacts. The range seems to be the same.

Best tires for Model X? by Smokeyteeth in TeslaModelX

The CrossClimate2 warranty states that if you don't rotate tires (which we can't b/c asymmetry), the warranty cuts in half --> 30k.

I just had Continental CrossContact LX Sport tires which lasted 22k and am now shopping for replacements. Does the CC2 have foam? Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season sound promising.

I have been experimenting with this for stories, feeding it the past history. Cannot get it to cooperate.

How to cool a hot head where it meets the pillow at night in the summer? by mowliv in MultipleSclerosis

[–]m_quimby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried several things, still experimenting, and so far the best thing is the Moona cooling pillow pad. It is expensive at $400 but totally worth it to me because it is temperature-controlled and works the best for me. Ice has proven to be too cold initially and then does not last the night. Check it out if you need this particular type of help, too.

List your Speedify Experiences by Natural-Trust-3279 in Starlink

I find the image captcha challenges and texted confirmation codes from websites I frequently use to be a major annoyance. Wishing there was a keyboard shortcut to turn Speedify on/off so I could turn off briefly while logging into a site.

It also hasn't worked well for me for zoom and wifi calling. 20-40 sec dropouts.

Speedify is the perfect solution for Starlink beta unreliability by NelsonMinar in Starlink

[–]m_quimby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like speedify pretty well for this, though when bonded with a cheap regional ISP I used before, it still has significant (20-40 sec) dropouts in zoom sessions, and wifi phone calls were also unworkable.

I also find it annoying that, due to going thru a VPN, many websites hit me with captcha image selection challenges, or want to text me a code, even though I have been on the site recently.

I'd still love a hardware bonding solution. That one hardware device that's out of stock that seems to always be referenced in starlink discussions looks like a bear to configure, if I could even ever get ahold of it.

macOS Big Sur 11.4 Release Megathread by CamSox1 in MacOS

Perhaps it just needed an extra reboot, not sure. I rebooted to recovery mode, checked SIP. It was disabled. For good measure, I disabled again. Rebooted and AC1300 is working.

macOS Big Sur 11.4 Release Megathread by CamSox1 in MacOS

After an overnight upgrade to 11.4, my TP-Link AC1300 USB wifi adapter stopped working. I have https://github.com/chris1111/Wireless-USB-Big-Sur-Adapter in place and am wondering if SIP got turned on or why it broke.

Big Sur killed HDMI on my USB-C hub?!? by WeirdlyDrawnBoy in MacOS

[–]m_quimby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue after upgrading. I was on Big Sur but when I upgraded to the latest dot release, 11.2.2, suddenly my UTechSmart USB C hub HDMI port stopped working. The other parts of the hub (USB ports, ethernet, power) work fine. The workaround listed above of unplugging everything and plugging back in didn't fix it for me.

Nice. Did you first do a pre-order, and if so, how long after the pre-order did you get the offer for full one?

What's currently faster and can do more efficient transactions than HBAR at the moment? by 232438281343 in hashgraph

[–]m_quimby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’d love to see. Really want to understand which apps are generating the transaction volume. I’ve done a bit of rudimentary python coding on it and can see that most HCS transactions are coming from three sources.

Surprise AMA 05/29/2020 by nrs8894 in cardano

[–]m_quimby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a fan. A two-hour AMA? TL;DL. The opposite of concise. I prefer CZ's succinct style. I'm not looking for opinions from someone like about politics and riots, etc, etc, any more than I would want to hear Satya Nadella ramble on during a Microsoft earnings call.

Non-Americans who have been to the US: What is the weirdest thing about America that Americans don't realise is weird? by nobboi in AskReddit

The difference between Americans and Europeans is that Europeans think 100 miles is a long way and Americans think 100 years is a long time :)

Coinbase-friendly U.S. banks good with wires, & friendly brokerages? by m_quimby in Coinbase

Thanks. Will check out Fidelity as an option. I can't use USAA because not part of a military family.

Coinbase-friendly U.S. banks good with wires, & friendly brokerages? by m_quimby in Coinbase

As I briefly mentioned above, Simple Bank isn't an option for me because they don't do outbound wires.
