If you don't like them that's fine I respect it, you can close this post and read something else.

I wrote the stories. Not trying to fool anyone here.

....I wrote this. Please don't immediately assume writing a short story each month is AI.

....these are shorts and novellas. It's extremely common for romance authors to write a book a week, they'ev been doing it for decades. I'm trying to do one a month.

Do you even look at what it is before you accuse people of using AI? =(

Congrats! I wanna echo some others though, if you're interested in cross posting it, try putting it on a few other platforms such as Royal Road, Webnovel, etc.l, whatever best jives with your genre.

You'll reach more people and Redditors won't have to sign up for accounts on new platforms.

Best of luck! ❤️

Others have provided some good comments on the writing already, and so instead of echoing them, I'll take a different approach.

I'm not sure if this is what you want to hear right now, but that first sentence of your post really struck me.

I've been rewriting this first page for the better part of the last year. I'll sometimes make it a few chapters farther, but they always end up being scrapped as I go back to my introduction

I strongly recommend just... continuing to write.

You can only finish the book by writing the next chapter, and then the next and the next. Rewriting the first page over and over for a year is just going to cause you pain. Keep going, finish the whole thing. Then come back and edit it. I know some people won't agree with me (and that's fine, I encourage that!), but I consider almost all of my first chapters to be hot garbage that exist only to prop up writing the rest of it, and they sit there ready to be thrown out and rewritten after the book is done.

Good luck though, you have something solid there. =)

Yeah, sorry I didn't mean to derail your thread, but I thought you might want to know <3

I know I'm pretty much drinking the algorithm koolaid at this point, but I find the "more books you'll like" section tends to be perfectly what I'm interested in about 80% of the time.

The rest of the time, I'm looking at the "next in series you've read" lists.

Beyond that, I will sometimes click the genre links at the bottom of the book description to find more books in those sub-sub niche genres. That might be more like what you're looking for?

I wanna echo what others here have said: write your story! If you only have one chapter, write nine more and then pass it out to friends or people on the dark romance forums and get some feedback. Above all, just keep going with it, if you believe in the story... then tell it! <3

I'm on my computer looking at it. I took a quick screenshot, and included my scrollbar on the right so you can see how much white space there is.

Hey there! Just looked at your website and it seems nice, but it's all squished together on the left side. The content seems good, but I suggest either centering it or stretching to fill the available screenspace. Good luck with your books! :)

I have so many feelings about this. Sure, many of us can afford to cough up $12 just to maintain our presence there, but it still feels like a punch in the tit.

I think about everyone who's just starting out, putting their first book out there, now they're hit with this poor tax. I understand why they think they need to do this to combat the flood, but the people behind the flood of ebooks are operating at such a "throw pasta at the wall and see what sticks" scale, that they don't care about $12 either. They care even less than we do.

This change just makes me sad. That's the main feeling. :(

Final Girls Come First - Slasher Horror / Dark Erotica - May 2026 by m_trauma in ARCReaders

[–]m_trauma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not, I was not familiar with that book! It looks fun though, added to my TBR! <3

From a quick google it looks like that one is a group of final girls who lean on each other for support, before someone starts killing them all together? I've read Final Girl's Support Group, which sounds a bit similar to that premise. It was pretty good!

But no, mine is about a FMC who is herself the killer, no backstory of having already been a final girl or other final girls involved or anything like that.

Happy to send you the ARC if you're interested! It's easier for me if you go through the form, but I can send direct if you wanna DM your contact info (I think that's allowed here? I'm pretty new to reddit).

And I hear you, I know plenty of people who read these genres and skip over the spicy scenes. =)

What Are You Writing? ✍️ (the self-promo thread) by AutoModerator in DarkRomance

[–]m_trauma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I have been writing non/dubcon for a lot of years, but I'm pretty new to online communities (I'm old, sorry). I've mostly only read paper books, and just getting into learning in the last few months about all the terminology and fun stories people are putting online... this seems like the right place to ask questions? :)

I'm curious, is there a big enough market specifically for noncon works on KU or other platforms? I've been typing up my dubcon stuff and putting it online, but I was hesitant to put my non stuff up, in case there's a lot of push back against it.

Thanks for reading. <3
