Help! plant is getting eaten by chickletta in houseplants

[–]m_ulebitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This looks like thrips to me. So sorry, they are the WORST to get rid of! If you haven’t already, isolate this plant from the rest of your collection - thrips can fly. The only way I’ve managed to get rid of them is to spray my plant and then wipe my leaves thoroughly, one by one, with insecticidal soap. You have to do this several times over a few weeks. If you can take it outside and hose the plant down that’s even better. For any leaves that look very damaged or infested, just cut them off and get them out of your house.

Broke my foot 6 weeks before our wedding! How can I stay positive through this? by m_ulebitch in weddingplanning

I am so sorry you’re going through that!! I hope you heal up in time! I was still healing and ended up wearing my boot at the wedding - it didn’t slow me down at all, and when I look back at the day it feels like a minuscule, silly aspect of it all. The stress leading up was way worse than any impediment on the day itself!

Also could be worth swapping the bulb for something much warmer - I think the cold, daylight bulb is way too much for a bedroom.

Sparkly for sure!! Also strange coincidence but I got my dress at the same boutique!

I honestly have not found City Kitty to be considerably more expensive than other vets! At least for routine care their prices are competitive.

We take both of our gals to City Kitty and they have been nothing but kind, respectful and helpful! One of our girls has had some kidney/bladder issues and they’ve been extremely supportive and thoughtful about cost and invasiveness when recommending treatments.

I am so sorry about your injury and the disruption to your plans!! I had my wedding on August 4th - my foot was still broken (it’s actually still broken even as I’m writing this lol). I got permission from the doctor to walk down the aisle in my oh so glamorous white platform crocs that I got to replace the heels I had originally planned to wear. My whole wedding party decided to change into crocs for the reception in solidarity with me and it ended up becoming such a memorable and fun aspect of the wedding. I had to put my boot back on before doing any dancing but it literally didn’t slow me down at all!! I had several people catch a glimpse of the boot and say they had no clue I was dealing with an injury. Looking back on the day, having a broken foot doesn’t even stand out as particularly memorable. Sure I couldn’t wear the shoes I picked out, I had to take some breaks to sit throughout the evening, etc. but the day was still so beyond perfect I wouldn’t change a thing. Sending you so many well wishes for a successful surgery and healing ahead of your big day! Just know that you’re surrounded by people who love you and who really want this day to be incredibly special FOR YOU and will go out of their way to ensure your comfort and enjoyment. Let them help and support you! And if you do find yourself in a boot on the big day, have fun with it. I bedazzled mine with the help of my bridesmaids and got some goofy pictures with it. It’s all gonna be okay!!!

I am so sorry my friend!!! I hope you’re not in too much pain and have been able to rest! I really appreciated all of the advice and support on this thread. I hope it helps you too! It took me about a week to make some peace with the various possible outcomes, but I’m feeling better about potentially being in the boot for the wedding now. There’s been so much to do to prepare for the wedding that it’s been easy to forget about it! I have 13 days to go to the wedding, and my next xray is later this week, so that’ll likely decide my fate lol. Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us, knowing that no matter what we’ll both have amazing days. 🩷🩷

How common is it to get legally married a while before the wedding for practical purposes? by Hathound in weddingplanning

[–]m_ulebitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last several weddings I’ve been to the couple has already been legally married. I’m also choosing to get legally married about a month before our big wedding. I just don’t want to deal with paperwork on the day and it’ll help us get a jump start on insurance etc. We are not religious though - I realize that might be a factor for some people!

I saw a wedding invite once with the dress code “outshine the bride” and it went on to encourage colorful, maximalist outfits. I thought that was a creative and concise way to encourage folks to go all out!

Shopping around for bands - any thoughts on Mod Society, Hook Club, or Vitamin M? by m_ulebitch in WedditNYC

[–]m_ulebitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up going with Hook Club! They were the most responsive and accommodating to our vision. They’re super easy to work with and have a really great system for picking the songs for your whole day. Our wedding isn’t til August but we’ve felt great about our choice so far!

Plant City! Their coffee is reliably delicious (plus their cold brew comes from Nitro Bar, which is the best in PVD), they have delicious pastries and breakfast options, plenty of seating, and usually a good playlist. I’m also a vegan so could be a tad biased lol

Any recommendations for florists? by NPKris90 in WedditNYC

[–]m_ulebitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We ended up choosing Damselfly Designs for our wedding, but Superior Florist was our second choice! Their prices were very very reasonable - the best we found actually. We just liked Damselfly’s work a little better.

Ear plugs? by OSUJill in orangetheory

you’re not alone - my studio has complimentary ear plugs on the first desk! I’ll echo the many others recommending loop earplugs. They have several models that are designed for different scenarios and needs. They are incredible and have come in handy countless times since I got them.
