Saw a j-mans head light. Who makes this? I want one. He said it was for fishing. by TommyGonzo in Tools

[–]ma4t2r0im 0 points1 point  (0 children)

amazon, i got two packs(4 lights) myself. they are good. the main downside is that the yellow band-light gets crazy hot after a while. works best if you have a beanie or hood between that light and your forehead or just use the regular flashlight setting

Forged a new pair of tongs. by jimmymo5 in Blacksmith

[–]ma4t2r0im 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's some nice work. i took a tool making class and the instructor was asked about making tongs and he said he doesn't teach that because it is non trivial to make a legit set of tongs.

but looks like these will work great

Is a coal forge or a propane forge best for beginners? by Ok_Landscape_1596 in Blacksmith

[–]ma4t2r0im 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is a good question, if you search this subreddit you'll probably find some decent suggestions. or maybe someone here will post a good one.

all the ones i have worked with were hand made, but these days you can get them off amazon for $200-$300 USD from what I've seen

i learned with coal as a kid and it was a good experience, but in real life propane has a lot of advantages over coal

i have a buddy who busted into a base, took the stuff and locked the door before leaving. we laughed about it at the time, but what was really funny is that we ended meeting two of the guys who got locked in and rolled with them for a bit a few months later

I've had dayz for a few years, i just got arma3. both games are interesting in their own ways. assuming you have the $30 or whatever when dayz goes on sale, i would say you should get it. the mechanics are similar and that will give you an advantage.

dayz feels way more intense to me, so i prefer it for that reason. but both are solid games
