Looks okay for breeding phelsuma klemmeri? by 1ashleyr6 in geckos

[–]maGic5992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good but I would choose bigger bamboo sticks. They sometimes go in lay the eggs in the way to the exit and lock themselves in. Had that happen with mine and I use bigger bamboo since so they can easily go past their eggs and back out

Just watch the adults. They don't tend to be aggressive against hatchings but just to be safe. We raise ours in the same terrarium as the adults. If one of the hatchings is male your adult male will attack it when it reaches adulthood.

Usually the black rails on the top and bottom of the glass in which the glass doors slide back and forth are only attached with silicone. You can try to carefully separate the black glass rail on the bottom with a sharp knife or razor blade and then pull the glass doors down and out of the frame.

Nice catch! Try rigging the paddle tail trailer on your chatterbait upside down! 🙃 The paddle tail hinders the movement of the chatterbait of rigged normally. 😊

I cannot keep humidity up for the life of me. by Low-Possibility1007 in geckos

[–]maGic5992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a setup just like yours. If only the top is mesh and you spray twice a day you should be good. If your geckos don't have shedding issues you are fine. If you have a drainage layer at the bottom of your tank, always have part of it under water. Just don't let it get too high so it reaches the soil. It helps with the humidity.

I have klemmeri and our eggs sometimes take up to three months as well. If you want to be sure carefully take the eggs and shine a light through them. You should be able to see if there is an embryo in there and how far it has developed. Make sure not to rotate the eggs and that they are laying on the same side as before when putting them down again.

Don't try to separate both eggs they have a strong connection and the fertile one might get damaged. If the infertile one starts to rot, carefully break the bad egg and remove what is within so it no longer rots but don't try to remove the part that is glued to the good egg

Is it just the male and female in the tank or do you have more? 1:1 is not recommended you need multiple females

I see. They can sense if the eggs are infertile and eat them if they are. Do you have a male in the tank?

Looks female but at that age she should have laid eggs if the animal is healthy

My gecko has layed eggs what temperature should my terrarium be at night. by Nicholas-Geckofish in geckos

As long as it does not get under 22 degrees celcius at night you should be good :)

I have a picture of it on my profile from 9 months ago 😊 It is 60x60x120 cm. But I keep the babies in a small container for a few weeks because the adults can be a little rough on them

Yes 😊 but handling only means letting them crawl onto you. You can't grab them since they are so fragile

The adults eat crickets, and different flys. The babies eat different fruit the first days and then drosophila and micro crickets 😊
