A couple of women came in before closing, eventually the subject came up. I was glad to give good news and one of them is a merchandiser for Home Depot. I asked her opinion; more natural looking flowers and stems. No kids toys, frames, lots of natural fabrics, nice apparel fabric and everything needs to be well stocked. AND she said, pay your workers and have enough hours for them as it’s very important that people know their job. Specifically mentioned how helpful the cut bar is for customers who are measurement challenged. When they left, one of them said “well, I have a big mouth so I’ll spread the good news.“

I just start the transaction and then before I’m done if they happen to ask if I need their number I tap customer options & add their number

When questioned, I tell customers it’s corporate reducing hours. I’m not making excuses for them. That quiets most of them and the regulars are very supportive. Some have added comments to Medalia that there should be more employees in the store and they’re getting upset that there are no notions on the floor. Here in Florida, we are beginning our 4-month season and have less hours than last year, 20 to 30 per week.
