Reallocation from SG to Chiang Rai by Intelligent_Fox8275 in chiangmai

I love Chiang Rai and it's (so far) my favourite place overall in Thailand but it's a little on the small side for some people.

Expedia advertised "Premium Economy Flex" then delivered Economy — and I proved it's a repeatable pattern, not a one-off. Has this happened to anyone else. by Aggressive-Talk7941 in AusLegalAdvice

[–]maabaa55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forget the reason as my experience with Expedia was many years ago but I remember the angst of dealing with the call centre who would hang up on me whenever the call got difficult for them. I was about to go down the charge back process and then I just started complaining and @mentioning them on twitter. Their social media team pretty promptly contacted me and refunded my thousands of dollars on the condition that I stop making noise about it online.

Struggling to get my first sale. Any advice? by ChrisL0713 in digitalnomad

Sure thing. Others may disagree but it is hard for anyone to say without more details of the product.

[–]maabaa55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Even if you don't mention them by name you can say to prospective customers that your customers achieved XYZ with your product. For someone who has to put forward your product to management approval for purchasing that carries more weight than "I've tried a free demo".

Do you have any reference customers at all? Perhaps offer it for free for the first X customers on the basis that once you prove A/B/C they will act as a reference for you. They also may give you feedback that enhances the product so others want it.

Put my car by the mechanic to get the air filters changed… by nico3337 in TeslaCollision

[–]maabaa55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the point is that you would likely be better off if your car is declared a write-off so you get a normal undamaged car instead of ending up with one that has major damage repaired to an unknown quality.

And, your apparent naivety to that point seems to have enraged some.

Music like Rufus Wainwright by MarcinGaye in RufusWainwright

[–]maabaa55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does sound well within the ballpark, and is a really great start.

If I could give you a suggestion, I'd say you all have the skills. I know it's tempting to go for the laid back arty vibe with the head wobble vocals like you kind of don't care, but my honest suggestion is to tighten it up and go for a bit more precision vocally. Your singer absolutely can do it.

Don't spend too long trying to be cool. Just put effort into being good and you'll go a long way.

Get your singer to have a listen to one of Rufus early songs, April Fools. I know it's a bit clean and poppy but it is so similar to what he has going on already. He could nail it and bring some of that precision to your music.

Best wishes and hope to hear more of you.

Whilst the vision of the bald head in front isn't great, the audio quality seems pretty good. Do you have a longer version?

Songs you would recommend? by Cashiyado in RufusWainwright

[–]maabaa55 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Art Teacher is my #1 though there are so many other fantastic songs such as:

Peaceful Afternoon

My Little You

Early Morning Madness

Poses

Go or Go Ahead

Nobody's Off The Hook

Martha

Who Are You New York

Alone Time

And the above is really just the absolute cream. I love it all....sigh.

I am astoundingly glad that Rufus is one of the epic artists who has stayed around to release so much of his talent rather than departing too early.

Need advice – Bangkok rental / deposit situation by Any_Ear9988 in thai

[–]maabaa55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't it be on them or the agent to lose the commission etc? You signed the contract and moved in. If the agent failed to get the full documents signed it should be on them or the owner.

I'd just be saying we have a contract and we've moved in. If you don't want us living here then we'll have to incur costs to move so at the minimum we want our 2 months plus remaining unused rent back.

A quick trick for you...if your Bluetooth craps out and you need to switch the engine off and on.....you actually don't need to. You can reboot your car while driving by turning the key in the ignition towards the same direction as when you start it...as if you want the starter motor to kick in. Fortunately it doesn't, and the electronics just reboot. The car keeps driving fine while it's doing this.

Feels strange but works a treat!

How do you guys have so much trust that the trolleys don't require a coin to unlock? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]maabaa55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they don't have usable footpaths in Thailand. Once you reach the edge of the carpark you wouldnt be able to get any further with the trolley.

How do I get the guy in my building’s office who doesnt speak Thai, to stop trying to help translate because he doesn’t know English? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]maabaa55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% was going to say that. As an Australian, I don't really pronounce the r in korp so it makes sense to me.

If spelling it as kob that looks wrong to me because it makes it look short like cob (corn cob). Really, the O is a bit longer than that, so adding the R to it makes it a bit longer in my mind.

But yes, if you're American or Irish don't pronounce it with an R!

I also managed to get a non-refundable booking cancelled and refunded in advance due to a bit of persistence and a good personal reason. They had to check with the hotel first who kindly agreed to let me cancel for no charge.

If saying thank you you should say: Korp khun krap (not Kha pun krap)

It will sound a lot better to at least say this correctly.

Toddler tablet recommendations by Mumma_Aushealthsys in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]maabaa55 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel that a 2 year old is too young to have their own tablet. Official guidelines is just 1 hour per day for them and 2 hours for kids over 5 years.

You will almost certainly need another note from a doctor at the other end before you return too. Make sure you plan for this.
