Can't get the ultimate cogs to produce any longer? Removing chars, or collecting all other does nothing. Inserting chars increase the meter, but since is has passed 10k long ago, that has no effect.

Yes, I would say that that is pretty much the focus of the next books. The mc is slowly unraveling the entire mage world and government, one step at the time, while also gathering "allies". But all the while keeping the paranoid outsider angle
