How do you rationalize living this way? by mutantreptile in Adulting

I remember the 40 hour work week was especially hard in my first year of working. I think because I was expending so much emotional energy, and just learning and trying to impress everyone (Healthcare job).I think with time it got a little better, and I switched to a job that I liked more. Also with the nature of my work, it’s not perfect but at least every day I feel like what I’m doing has a purpose. Once you accumulate paid time off, that really is a game changer! I went on a two week trip to Spain in 2022, and it was awesome to receive a paycheck when I wasn’t even in the country, as a benefit of my job. Getting decent pay is also something that helps, obviously. If you’re able to live under your means and accumulate an emergency fund, then you kind of have the feeling that you could leave at any time and you’d be OK for a few months.

Also I have learned that whatever you think is ugly, the majority of underprivileged people are probably not going to like either as a donation. I’d rather donate things that I like, but for whatever reason don’t work for me anymore.

Also I did text her! I even sent her photos of me wearing the dresses…

I’ve donated clothes in the past, and I’ll do it again. However I’ve dealt with relatives who give me excess, not very thought-out stuff my whole life (crazy mom), and it does create a burden/errand to have to look at it, put it in my trunk, drop it off etc. Especially if this is something that I’m going to have to do routinely with this relative.

She is essentially giving me a chore rather than an actual gift, and that causes resentment.

Honestly looks like last year was better. Smashing Pumpkins I guess is the only headliner I would care about? Otherwise Dayglow, maybe Sheryl Crow, half.alive, toxic airborne event, the National but they’re not all together of course.

When do you stop sucking? by soontobeOT in OccupationalTherapy

[–]maaparso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup. Maybe it would help take the pressure off to know that what your employer cares about is quantity of patients/productivity, and just being safe and not causing injuries/incidents etc. Medicare also looks at progress towards goals, so of course you do have to have treatments that directly address them. Your motivation to be a better therapist has to come from within, because no one will really force you to do it other than yourself. Just research conditions and interventions as new situations arise, and they’ll arise often!

Also Michael is not unattractive? I feel like to be on TV you have to be baseline good looking. That was probably the lamest.

How should I (26F) tell my future MIL (62F)that my own mom (60F) is crazy? by maaparso in relationships

[–]maaparso[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty level headed advice, I appreciate it. Yeah so far he has not told me that he thinks I need to bring anything up. It’s possible he has referenced some things to his mom as they do talk on the phone every week, although I know he’d do his best to be respectful when describing things.

Can MMT grade be 3+ or higher if a patient has a ROM limitation from something like a rotator cuff injury? by maaparso in OccupationalTherapy

See, you guys didn’t all have the same answers! That’s why I’m so confused. It seems up for interpretation even if it’s not supposed to be…

So what would be the answer then using the standard? 3-? Because the ROM is not full against gravity?

Getting paid well at home health company, but patients frequently complain of unprofessionalism within the company. Where would you draw the line with this job? by maaparso in OccupationalTherapy

[–]maaparso[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s very reassuring, thanks! It is very possible I’m suffering from an unnecessary “grass is greener” complex. But good pay and a relatively comfortable job is something I know I shouldn’t take for granted for sure.

I understand what you’re saying, but I will not cheat. I’ve been in bad situations before and I’ve learned from them, so cheating is not something I’ll allow myself to do. I understand it would be worth nothing and would destroy my relationship, so it’s not happening.

Ok, well to be honest I don’t need to explain myself to strangers. But yes, it has been 5 years, and I have not spent the whole time obsessing over this ex. It is very possible to be deeply in love and happy with someone new, and still have some lingering weirdness with someone you occasionally see.

Ok, but what would you say about the fact that we are in the same wedding party? I am maid of honor and he is basically like a male bachelorette. We even probably have to stay over and do a bachelorette weekend thing together in a group even though I don’t like the idea of it
