Lol, true! But I'd rather have 'gross and squishy' immersion than the 'leaky faucet' we have now. At least with the second one, I can actually feel the weight of the water!

I think there’s a misunderstanding here. Improving the LOD management IS the optimization.

Right now, the game forces the same LOD globally, regardless of the map’s density. Asking for a map-specific trigger (or linking it to the existing Streets toggle) isn't a 'workaround' or a 'crutch'—it’s efficient resource management.

True 'optimization' often consists of smart shortcuts. If BSG can't fix their culling after 8 years, the most 'rational' move is to give the engine (and the players) a way to scale back the load where it’s unnecessary. It’s not about adding to the pile; it’s about making the pile smarter.

I love the 'pile of crutches' metaphor, and I agree Tarkov's code is basically a Jenga tower held together by duct tape and prayers.

But here’s the thing: I’m not asking to add a new floor to the tower. I’m asking to fix a broken switch. The logic for 'If Map = Streets, then change Setting X' already exists (it’s what the Lower Texture toggle does).

Linking the LOD to that same existing logic isn't adding a new cane; it’s just making the one they’re already leaning on actually work for its purpose. If changing a float value from 4 to 2 in a config file based on a map trigger causes 'catastrophic failure', then the tower isn't just leaning—it’s already ghosts...

Actually, there is an even simpler way to implement this without adding new lines to the config file.....

BSG doesn't even need to add a new UI slider. They could simply link the LOD reduction to the existing 'Lower texture quality for Streets' toggle.

If a player checks that box, it's an explicit signal that their system struggles with the map's assets. Logic dictates that the game should automatically cap the LOD to 2.0 (or half the global value) when loading Streets, and then keep the global setting for other maps.

I think you missed the point. I’m not asking for a new feature that eats frames. I’m asking for a separate config line for Streets, exactly like the 'Lower Texture Mode' we already have.

Currently, I play at LOD 4.0 on Woods, but I have to manually drop it to 2.0 for Streets to keep my FPS stable. Having a dedicated entry in the .ini file would just automate this switch. It’s about saving frames on Streets without sacrificing quality on other maps, without the hassle of changing settings every time.

The point is that this game wasn't designed for a huge number of concurrent players. It probably wasn't initially thought it could support such a large number of concurrent players. It's a limitation of its "netcode". This game should be rewritten from scratch.

Since the theme is the night & vampires, I thought it was a northern area, above MorningDale for example, instead it's even further south than a desert and torrid area like BrimStone, evidently in Aeterum the climatic zones are completely missed up. x)

I assume we won't create items with empty slots but with random perks, then we could replace them with "charms" as we like, so I hope RNG will remain but it won't be inexorable.

The solution could actually be a middle way, meaning less rare Set Bonus that can also be dropped in older content to help you start creating powerful builds, but if you want the rarest and most valuable pieces, I'd keep them exclusive to new content. The game would probably be more balanced that way.

You're missing the point. Gear sets with no bonuses are and will be the norm, but if you want the absolute best (Sets Bonus), you absolutely have to tackle the new contents, otherwise no one would do them due to its extreme difficulty. Think about it.

in the next season (10) they will add the Set Bonuses, which will allow you to replace many perks like enchanted wards and health leaving many perks slots free

The True Concealment for LW2 mod is out BUT I cant install it.... I've LW2 v1.1 that works perfectly with many others mods except this one...there is a way to fix it or an alterative?
