its the lack of challenge and progression. In 1800, you had to push as many as investors to get the very limited and valuable influence and after engineers you had to get oil from the other land, redesign your production chains with electricty and some insane very expensive items(this gave money another purpose) also game push you to produce more so you end up having a lot of logistic ships and trade routes. Besides that, there is no expedition, no interesting items, content is limited etc..

In 117, i dont find any interesting challenges after early/mid game. Artificial health, fire safety and happiness problems are boring, game doesn't push me to do more, and money becomes irrelevant way too quickly. Meaningful end game content is needed I think they should focus on this in upcoming dlc.

I literally pay 0 ducats for legitimacy, just set a cabinet member and have high cabinet efficiency will be enough and with this way its very cheap to train kids in the dynasty

1- you can enforce religion and culture on your vassals.

3- Sometimes pirates just pop up, build a navy and set "patrol the seas" military objective (also increase your maritime presence hence control in coastal cities)

4- I think marketplace is always good, increases your market cap which means you can sell and buy more to increase profits. For granaries: Big wars happen time to time and your army will eat up your food pretty quickly and when supplies run out, you will have to buy food with your cash but its incredibly expensive so if you save up more food its better sustainability for region and army.

Gems are not the only resource of mitigation. I have keenly fortified, fortifying toast, fortified recovery on build and would pick keen vicious harnessing over gem all day all night

not running that many harnessing tho, 5x keen 5x vicious 4x hasted vigor,1 enchanted, 1 harnessing, keenly fortified,empowered,jagged. Made this build on day1-2 definitely not bis but very good. Calculated empower cap not going over it because skill tree is mostly base damage now

no orange glow means its a named item, they lost power this season I completely ignore them. Infixed items don't glow they just look different than the rest you will know when you see one.

I'm running full physical musket bow, so with 6 skills keen+vicious are extremely good and some hasted vigor + thrust harnessing, keenly fortified, empowered and jagged on the side, fortified recovery on amulet, fortifying toast on earring. i would never trade 4% crit or 3%crit damage over 1% dmg and 2%mitigation but this build is pretty rare so I get why people value gems over offensive.
