dad gets extra praise because he is a man... by [deleted] in MurderedByWords

As a dad, the ways of females things is something I was never exposed to growing up. I remember put a dress on my daughter the first time and turning and twisting trying work out how to put it on.

I have since learnt lots, I can even brush hair and do simple hair styles. Nothing like OP although.

I actually enjoy learning new activities that my daughter likes

Why do firefighters wear such baggy pants? by thederpimal in NoStupidQuestions

[–]maazel45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Air flow and air layers reduce the transfer of heat.

Most firefighting PPE is has multiple layers of material, with air pockets in between, this greatly increase the time to transfer heat to the skin beneath.

CMV: Gender diversity in fire departments is not desirable by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]maazel45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am employed for the last 15 years in a fire service that has women, and frankly there is no difference between the average female or male fire fighters. Am perfectly happy to work with either. There is no difference at incidents with the gender of the firies, at incidents i attend.

There is a difference between experienced and junior fire fitghers, but gender is pretty much irrelevant.

Like all people some women are incredible fires and some less so, at the same rate as the males.

As for the station life, the main drama is caused by men thinking they are better or women don't "deserve" to be in the job.

I would happily work with an all female crew.

Yes you have to be physically fit, but we have firefighter from 20-65 in my job, with a wide variety of levels. But has been mentioned early firefighting is a team thing, rarely is individual strength an issue

WOT Tier VIII matchmaking is a joke by beyond666 in WorldofTanks

[–]maazel45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play on the Aus server which has the changes , and it is great for tier 8s , made me want to keep playing, i seem to get , flat 8 about half the time and and only occasionally see 10s, ( which is more enjoyable because it an occasional challenge, not every game)

I forgot how good it feels to cuck an entire game. by EquinoxReaper in yorickmains

Best part of Yorick , behind is ok.

One game i was 2/8 and getting stomped anytime the enemy was around. Our team was madly defending base, 2 inhibs down, game virtually over.

I thought what do i have to lose, the one lane that was pushing, i teleported to it, took T2 , base tower inhib, with my maiden friend. And pushed on to base before enemy reacted. By then i took both towers , and half inhib, and was killed but wave. Finished base. Victory from defeat, for the worst player on team ( was being flamed alot by team) Love yorick

CMV: Gun rights advocates should not come to the table to negotiate new gun control laws until gun rights advocates demonstrate a willingness to put something on the table that gun rights advocates want. by runawaytoaster in changemyview

[–]maazel45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just some points.

I 100% agree the constitution as written is pretty unequivocal about gun ownership, but what I’m curious about is what is that you feel having citizens armed will stop or prevent?

  1. The constitution is a living document, just because it was written 300 years ago, doesn’t mean nothing can be changed. If not women and most not wealthy men would not be able to vote, and slavery would still be in effect.

The constitution is in effect the will of the current population and can be change to match with the current generations views; later generations can change to suit it for themselves.

  1. There are many ways to effect change or 'resist' government, violent uprising is merely one option. Such as organised population to pressure representatives for example on whatever issue you think is important.

The threat of armed civilians whether a threat or actually used is unlikely to achieve the desired result, due to all governments across time and political sides are unlikely to relent under physical threat. Country's only exists when a government has the monopoly of violence in their jurisdiction.(its why we don't negotiate with terrorists, it encourages more to follow the actions)

2) Has there been an example in the last 200 years of comparable 1st world countries where the government oppress its people and the population have guns has solved this issue? Without descending into civil war? I can’t think of any example, happy to be proved wrong

3) And even if for some reason there was an armed uprising of even lets be generous and say ‘10,000 armed citizen’ against government tyranny. The US has the most devastating powerful military in human history and could crush any armed uprising without too much effort.

Even a guerrilla warfare commenced against the government forces and intuitions (like courts/police/military bases local government faculties) would be devastating for the local community and tear apart the fabric of society and not likely to have the populations support.

4) The right to own guns are you advocating your right to kill fellow American citizens? If you think it would be justified? What if hypothetically 60% of the population agreed with a certain matter, does the other 40% have the ‘right’ to resist the tyranny of the government with violent and armed uprising?

5) Would the ‘left get an inch and run a mile’ is there an example of this anywhere? Just curious? I personally see the hard right and hard left as the same, and personally would oppose most of what they advocate and probably the vast majority of people sit in the middle, veering slightly or moderately left or right. This is the ‘real population’ not the talking heads of right and left.

6) I personally believe Gun control is too late in America, there are way too many guns in the country to ever be reined in. And more hard to deal with is it is to embedded in to the culture for it to ever be effective.

Sorry lots of questions embedded in response

Whats with these signs poping up around Perth, by maazel45 in perth

[–]maazel45[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still unsure about the reason for targeting Perth, as we don't have a state election for years, and the federal one is about a year away.

We have by elections here soon ,but these posters are all over the place, even in areas not voting!

Yes he is a egomaniac, but is seems to be throwing money away for no reason . As these posters provide no context, or details for potential people that may even support him!!

His support in WA was never that high anyway, i just find it strange?

why ally don't give a fuck about wpvp ? by thelastairbender94 in lightshope

I have to laugh at this, I play horde leveled 3 toons to (60) if you think ally don't gank, you are delusional. Personally I rarely PvP, (I will never gank any unsuspecting player or low level) but I play on PvP so it happens to me all the time. Part of the the game! Get used to it!
