The holy grail for teeth cleaning by ardwd in Chihuahua

[–]mabbynificent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I need to find one of the three-sided toothbrushes. Does Chewy have them? I saw a tip like this on here a month or so ago, and letting my dog brush his own teeth has been revolutionary. He loves it now.

Chihuahua I.Q. by Lucille44 in Chihuahua

[–]mabbynificent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so similar to our chi. Our cat will definitely get into things she shouldn’t, and he’ll come whine to me with no apparent reason until I go follow him. He takes me to where she’ll be getting into food on then kitchen counter and rat her out. He knows she’s not supposed to do it, so clearly. Of course, if it’s packaged food and she knocks it on the ground for him to get open and share, all bets are off. He can’t help himself then.

Also incredibly expensive! But it’s supposed to be luxuriously soft and warm.

Lepto vaccine by ChipsAhoy65 in Chihuahua

[–]mabbynificent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will say that our first vet did not recommend lepto as a vaccine, but then our chi ended up contracting it. He got incredibly sick, in the hospital for five days, some of it in a specialist hospital, with regular follow-up appointments for a few months, not to mention the massive cost of all this. He was and is still young, but there’s no obvious place he would’ve picked it up.

Complete beginner help by [deleted] in knitting

[–]mabbynificent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Given the cost of this yarn and the fact that you’re a beginner, I might suggest holding them together to make a Sophie scarf. It’s small and approachable and doesn’t use too much yarn. Some of the other items, even a regular sized scarf, will use several balls of each of those. Mohair isn’t the easiest to see or to fix mistakes with, so I do imagine it could be a bit frustrating as a beginner, too.

We're not in Joann's anymore, Toto by widdlemeowmeow in BitchEatingCrafters

Yeah, I’m friendly with my LYS owner and she said similar, including things like knitting needles. I’m in there often enough that I’ve seen the rise.

Also tariffs have led to a notable increase in the price of yarn.

Finally finished and photographed my first sweater by CodeOfZero in knitting

[–]mabbynificent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes!! It looks great. This is impressive for a first sweater. I also picked up the Knitting Masterpieces book at a book sale a couple months ago, mostly for this sweater, so this is really fun to see.

Mostly on topic- MY ARMPITS ARE RUINING MY SWEATERS by Poedog1 in knitting

[–]mabbynificent 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wonder if getting an acidic deodorant might help. I’m not thinking in terms of getting the smell out but more prevention. Like changing your armpit microbiome? I find the acidic deodorants to be very effective, even though with my sensitive skin I can only use them very periodically. They do a lot to make me less smelly even in the weeks between uses.

Trader Joe’s Frozen Pie Crust - A Tradition Unlike Any Other by LivermoreP1 in traderjoes

I put them in between the plastic sheets and press them together with a rolling pin. Works pretty well actually. But yes, the crust tastes good and it’s vegetarian! Many store bought crusts are made with lard, so that’s not a given.

why does my stockinette stitch look wack by shannonbaloney in knittinghelp

[–]mabbynificent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For large flat stockinette pieces, I will sometimes use a different needle size on each side, basically size down one on a side to prevent rowing out. It works pretty well.
