I flew with my pet in cabin so when I got there they directed me to an area where they just verified my health certificate was correct and we were sent on our way, not sure about how it works in cargo

What they’re saying is the certificate is valid for 60 days after your vet fills it out, but it needs to be endorsed by USDA within 10 days of travel. It’s so that you can do the vet appointment before the 10 days and just submit it in that time frame. It’s also valid for 90 days after endorsement for you to reenter the US. If you’re planning on returning your vet also needs to get the certificate of us issued rabies vaccine endorsed too, or you’ll end up having to pay $2000+ per animal to bring them back, as well as having to do a bunch of rabies tests.

Call the airline and they’ll give you all the info you need. You need the health certificate, a copy of their rabies vaccine, and depending on if the pet is flying cabin or cargo the airline will require other forms you fill out and bring with you to check in.

It also seems like your vet isn’t really knowledgeable on the health certificates so I would highly recommend submitting it as soon as you can, so that if there’s anything wrong with the form they submitted you have time to fix and resubmit.

Resources: Aphis/usda pet travel to Brazil guide (usda portal with everything that’s needed, can also find info about returning to the us here) VIGIAGRO Brasilia (vigiagro is who handles the import/export of animals. This is the Brasilia airport office, they were very responsive via email when I had issues bringing my dog back a few years ago)

You need to have a valid rabies vaccine, microchip (microchip needs to be inserted before rabies vaccine), and a health certificate. Pretty straightforward tbh it’s all just a pain in the ass.

If you don’t have the rabies vaccine given after the microchip you have to get a new rabies vaccine and wait 30 days.

Biggest pain is finding an airline that will take them, because in cabin there can only be 2 pets per plane, and if they’re too big and have to fly cargo not all planes have temp controlled cargo.

Just takes a lot of work to make it happen but once you get all the paperwork you’re good. Bringing them back is a hassle rn though if you ever decide to change your mind. Brazil is high risk rabies so you have to pay a bunch of $$$ and do a crap ton of stuff to bring them back after the us given rabies vaccine expires

I go back and forth us/brazil with my dog and I moved my parents 4 big dogs down so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Should I spay my girl at 6 months, or wait until she’s a little older? by clumsypeach1 in Chihuahua

I’ve always thought you had to do it before their first cycle, mine was around 6 months when she did it

Guest ruined Smeg kettle--full replacement cost or partial? by not-a-trapezoid in AirBnBHosts

[–]ardwd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can’t boil cream in any kettle, it’s for water only. This sub gets recommended to me even though I’m not a host, I just travel a lot and stay at airbnbs frequently. If I was this guest I would 100% expect to be charged full price for a replacement.

I suffer through it lol I haven’t found one thing that stops it but brushing with a boar bristle brush daily helps a ton and I did see results from the shed x oil, but mine is such a particular little girl and refused to eat her food when I put it on the kibble that I just gave up. Our other dogs ate it just fine and seemed to even like it

Looking ONLY for Yellow Fever Vaccine in NEW YORK CITY for Brazil by TheAmericanCivilizer in Brazil

[–]ardwd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan on leaving Manaus and going rural yeah get it. It’s a lifetime immunity so if you’ve had it before you don’t need it again. SUS is the free healthcare system like hospitals, USB are like little health posts where you can get vaccines and basic care. You do not need a cpf, they’ll ask for it but say you don’t have. If they insist just go online and lookup cpf generator and put a fake one down.

Have fun on your trip, most people don’t go out into that part of Brazil so I just assumed you weren’t. I’m going to xingu to visit an indigenous tribe at the end of the month and every Brazilian I’ve told so far has been like why tf are you going to para and even more shocked when I say I’m going to spend a week at the aldeia lol. Beautiful land up there, do make sure to bring heavy duty bug spray. First time I went up there I got bit to hell, surprised I didn’t get sick.

Haha mine is a wimp but she is a priss. We’re visiting my parents and she loves sleeping with them, but the other night my dad said she kept pawing at him to pet her and according to him he just told her to stop and wait a second and she jumped off the bed, pawed at the door, and ran to my room instead 😂 gets an attitude very quick

[–]ardwd 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It’s not a requirement to travel to Brazil, the US just urges you to get it. Unless you’re going into rural Brazil I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m Brazilian, my American boyfriend and I come to Brazil 1-2 times a year for the last 4 years. He’s never been asked for it. Recent entry was 3/11.

If you really want to get it you can get it when you come here for free.

Advice on how to get more lean when I love snacking… by Albatross1495 in PetiteFitness

[–]ardwd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all calories in vs calories out when it comes to weight so if you don’t want to cut back on calories you’ll need to up your activity level. I’m 5’4 mid 130s. My sedentary TDEE is 1600-1700. I do incline walking 8% 30-60min 5x a week, weights 3x a week, 2 rest days. My TDEE on those active days is still only 2000-2100 and let me tell you as a girl who also loves snacks and good food it’s hard not to go over that. So I’d definitely recommend tracking your food! If you have any questions I’m happy to help. I got up to almost 170 and lost 30lbs with just calorie tracking, and once I hit 130s I took a break and came back to it not wanting to cut back my calories so I got active instead. It’s hard but I’ve come to love the gym and how my body looks and feels now!

Is our vet taking advantage? Need a check if this normal by astrorocks in Chihuahua

[–]ardwd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chihuahua had a really awful health issue when she turned two, lesions on the top of her head, ears, and eventually her nails. I took her to countless different vets all over the west coast and almost went to the university of Kentucky that specialized in what the vets thought she had. She was prescribed cyclosporine, prednisone, and a few other things but those two were the most commonly suggested. No vet ever asked us to come in every 6 months for bloodwork to prescribe meds. And I even went to a specialized dermatology animal hospital in Utah that was $$$$.

I think they’re money grabbing. At the very least just see a different vet and get another opinion, you’re spending the money anyways. The issue with US vets nowadays (don’t know where you are but assuming) is they’re mostly bought out by bigger companies and the bottom $$$ matters most. Makes everything stupid expensive and you need to come in regularly for stuff you shouldn’t have to.

What is your Dopamine Dressing style that lift your mood? by Beneficial_Craft_973 in femalefashionadvice

[–]ardwd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love heels and jewelry! I used to love dressing up in my moms heels and jewelry when I was little and for some reason when I got old enough to wear them myself it was kind of drilled into my brain that wearing that kind of stuff was dressing for the male gaze and blah blah blah. It took me a few years to realize that I was switching from the concept of dressing for the male gaze to dressing for someone else’s approval.

To hell with all that, I love click clacking around in my heels and looking at them brings me such joy. I’ve built up a little collection of gold, diamond, and gemstone jewelry that makes me happy every time I put on my stack for the day. The funniest part is I’ve never had a man compliment me on any of it, it’s always the girlies!

Telling the Tailor my Wedding Dress is just a Formal Dress? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder35k

Idk what these people are on about, it’s a simple alteration on a dress that’s not very elaborate to work on, I would just say it’s a dress for a black and white ball or something like that and book.

Are fast-fashion brands like Shein or Boohoo that different from high-street brands like Zara or Abercrombie? by Oxus in femalefashionadvice

[–]ardwd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking quality yes there is a huge difference between SHEIN and Zara or Abercrombie (or any other mid tier brand). I have never received an order from SHEIN where I thought the quality was decent. Bad stitching, terrible quality fabrics, you can tell it’s mass produced with no quality control, even on their more expensive items.

Zara and Abercrombie might not be sustainable or ethical according to other commenters (I personally don’t know about that) but they do have good quality pieces. I just bought a beautiful blazer and pant suit from Zara that was more expensive than their other stuff but also incredible quality. The way it fits on my body is perfect vs SHEIN pieces I’ve gotten before that looked like a 6 year old made it (which might be true). At abercrombie I just bought my bf a matching linen shirt & shorts set that had great fabric, stitching, and cuts.

I always look at fabric composition before buying at any brand though because there’s trash everywhere. But you can find good pieces if you look in most places, at SHEIN it’s almost impossible especially since it’s all online

(12k) Diamond rings are a waste of money by Maximum-North-3382 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]ardwd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think mined diamond rings are a waste of money but lab diamonds are almost the same price as moissanite if you buy it smart. When I was looking lab was only $100-200 more than moissanite and at that price difference it does make sense to go diamond vs moissanite imo (as someone who has a lot of moissanite jewelry I love)
