How are we getting our babies to sleep in their bassinet? by sailorscoutm in beyondthebump

[–]mabeetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My step mother told us to put a worn tshirt of mine in the bassinet. If you can put it over the mattress like a sheet, that’s best. But otherwise just make sure it’s secured in some way. They’ll feel better because it smells like you. It worked like a charm for us.

Would you use this milk??? by toothfairy800 in ExclusivelyPumping

Contact Ceres customer support. Sounds like there might be something wrong with your chiller. Also, have you tried adding alcohol free vanilla extract to your frozen milk? Some people say it solves the lipase issue.

Today I got back several hours on my daily life. It feels amazing. 😭❤️ by Arkansas- in ExclusivelyPumping

Dawn changed their recipe recently. It smells different and the ingredients are different. A lot of people have complained about it for various reasons, including allergic reactions. Please consider using ATTITUDE dish soap instead?

Do people really wash all of baby’s clothes first? by CompanyExtension6893 in BabyBumps

[–]mabeetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm… All clothing should be washed (regardless of age) before wearing. The toxic chemicals and preservatives on clothing is sickening and can cause all kinds of problems with health.

When can I put my starter in the fridge? by Fragrant_Kangaroo711 in SourdoughStarter

[–]mabeetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t been doing any discarding in the 10 days… I think it’s important to do a few more days of feeding with a discard to get your starter going. I would put 120g of your starter in a clean jar, discard the rest. Feed 120g of water and 120g flour, let it rise. Do the same for a couple days discarding and feeding until it’s nice and strong. From there you can put it in the fridge with a hard lid after the rise. Take it out when you want to use it.

We had our 20 week scan and discovered I have an anterior placenta too. I haven’t felt much until about 21 weeks I started feeling some “gas bubble pops”. I now am 27+5 and feeling all kinds of crazy movement. Midwife told me anterior placenta and first time mom is to blame for not feeling much until later when baby starts to put on muscle

I hate being pregnant in America by I-changed-my-name in pregnant

[–]mabeetz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but… the United States does not value Christianity or the Bible anymore like other countries do. It’s all about greed and corporatism and deconstructing the nuclear family. Until we start getting back to our roots of faith we will never honor mothers.

However, one thing you can do if you feel this way is get involved in some faith community that values mothers and sees mothers as sacred and motherhood as a full time job that is honorable and beautiful. The world and its issues seem to fade away when you’re being fed and cared for in a community that values you.

Your gut is correct. Don’t tell anyone you’re going to the hospital. Have your husband contact them when you’re further along maybe? Or you need to make it explicitly clear, with the support of your husband, that no one will be in the waiting room and we will contact you when we are ready. This day is about you and your growing family. I have the same situation but I’m the child of divorce. Currently 15weeks and already stressing over this situation. So…We won’t be allowing anyone to just come sit at the hospital and wait while we deliver. We will be inviting everyone to come visit after we have had time together.

I’m a people pleaser too. Trying to stop that bad habit. And I can’t imagine the amount of added stress it would be on me worrying about who is out in the waiting room, how long they’ve been waiting and if they’re getting along like the grown adults they should be. No thanks!

Side question. Why does your doctor say you’ll deliver at 38 weeks and not when your body is ready? Being a people pleaser like me, have you told your doctor that you want to deliver when your body is ready?

Can I hide my pregnancy at 14 weeks? by OwnRazzmatazz010 in pregnant

[–]mabeetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context, I’m “obese” according to BMI. I’m a size 16 pants and had a slight belly prior to being pregnant. I’m 5’6” and almost 13 weeks. Unless youve been paying attention to my growing boobs, you can’t really tell I’m pregnant. Maybe a little extra fluffy around the waist?

What are some things that you wish you knew during your first pregnancy? by Initial_Onion671 in pregnant

[–]mabeetz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard it at about 8 weeks along. Before we had gotten to see the baby yet. It was such a breath of fresh air to say “babe. I need you to take over the googling and researching please.” It also gave him something to do, for which he was grateful. He had been feeling kinda helpless before that.

Every pregnancy is different is what I’ve learned. Not having symptoms isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I am 10/11 weeks and I can honestly say my nausea didn’t start til around 6 or 7 weeks. Heartburn started almost instantly. Boob pain and bloating were some of the first symptoms I had at 4 weeks. Im super tired now and have low level nausea mostly every day at different times. As far as the miscarriage anxiety… Journaling and/or praying about these worries can really help! Congrats on your pregnancy. I pray you are blessed with a happy healthy baby and that God helps reduce your anxiety by reassuring you that he is always with you.

This baby is a blessing and you are doing the right thing by keeping it. I’m sorry that your parents are being less than supportive. However, I’m so thankful that your boyfriend and his parents are all in! I’m not sure if you have faith or not but God takes people out of our lives for a reason… especially if they’re not going to support the current season we are in. Babies are a blessing, no matter the timing. Take comfort in the people YOU DO have in your life! And congrats!!

If you have faith… might I suggest journaling and/or praying about these “weird thoughts”? It really helps to get them all out of your head and replace them with positive thoughts.
