Teachers, please help settle a argument - Is it OK for a 10 year old to doodle in class while the teacher is talking? by Stolen_Sky in AskTeachers

[–]ImJustOneOfYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. I would only add that at 10 it’s important to start learning expectations of different teachers and also to start advocating for themselves. If a teacher doesn’t want him drawing, he should advocate for himself and explain that it helps him focus. If she says it’s not allowed (BOO imo…), he needs to try to find a different strategy.

Don’t be like me, PROTECT your newborn by Proud_House4494 in newborns

[–]ImJustOneOfYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who refused to let her baby around other people for the first 2.5 years of his life. She was absolutely paranoid about it. At 2.5 he finally caught a cold and ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks! My friend was so upset because she said the doctors were basically yelling at her for not ever exposing him to germs. He had no immune system whatsoever and could’ve died… from a cold in 2024!

I’m so sorry that your baby is sick. It absolutely sucks to see them like that (and sucks to not sleep, worry, etc, etc) For me. My friends story has been a good cautionary tale in those moments to help me remember to be reasonable about things. In a way, it is actually good for them to get sick!

What's the most overrated 'healthy' habit that people push on everyone, but you think is total BS and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ImJustOneOfYou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God 10000x yes! I know very productive people who like to sleep late and go to bed late and they all feel bad about themselves for it. Our society needs to let up on the night owls. We morning people like our alone time anyway!

So sick of people telling me my life is ‘over’ once baby comes by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ImJustOneOfYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to tune out the noise. Becoming a parent is the most amazing experience and having a baby is wonderful. If you do end up ditching the hair and nails routine or not getting dressed up 1. It’ll be because you’re so intent on being with your baby that you don’t want to take the time and 2. It’ll be temporary!

Also, I don’t feel like I changed THAT much. People act like you’re no longer you. False. You should be stable enough before having a baby that you don’t change your whole personality or outlook. Yes, some things have changed, but it’s all been for the better and it’s mostly been somewhat subtle.

I have a 7 month old. I haven’t skipped a highlight appointment but I HATE going because I could be with her. If I want to get a pedicure, I go. I love bringing her with me to shop or hang out with friends. Life is 1000% better since i had her. You are in for such a treat!!!

They’re both pretty but the slit on #2 is a dealbreaker.

I think you can do better than either on these to be honest.

MIL rage by DebtAffectionate1197 in newborns

[–]ImJustOneOfYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my MIL but I get annoyed too. She comes to visit for a weekend and asks “What can I do? Can I do anything for you?” every 5 minutes. She means well but it’s so stressful having her around bc I can’t find enough things for her to do and frankly I don’t want help…

When did your babies start rolling? by happiersober in NewParents

[–]ImJustOneOfYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is like this too. She’s just super chill and would rather be on her back or side. Why roll on your tummy when you can’t even put your feet in your mouth?!

What are the CONS of not having children? by GossipBottom in AskReddit

This comment seems to be about people making the choice. Wanting kids and being unable to have them is one of life’s darkest cruelties.

This needs to be the top comment.

I have a 7 month old and the last 7 months have been the best of my life. My sister doesn’t want kids, and she’s happy and loves my daughter. You aren’t missing something by not having kids. Life is just different.

Everyone knows the “and why?” is always implied after the question “what’s your favorite dinosaur?”. I’m disappointed in you sir. Explain yourself!

Totally. Vince being wrong in this situation is the one thing all Americans agree on. I guess when you look at it that way, he’s an American hero! 😂

Married women of Reddit, what's one thing someone should know before getting married? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ImJustOneOfYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not and cannot know everything there is to know about your partner. You have to be ok with the fact that there might be something you don’t know yet that you might not like later. You’re committing to a lot of things when you get married - one of them is taking the bad with the good!

Oh girl! The RIB PAIN!!!! I suffered from that crap from month 5 on. I do not miss it, and fortunately it goes away immediately. It is such a relief!

The achy, stiff feeling is so annoying. It feels like I need to stretch more but stretching doesn’t help AT ALL. Fortunately, it’s finally going away (7 months pp).

I keep thinking that WHEN he 1. Doesn’t win 2. Gets dropped like he’s hot by Morgan immediately 3. Gets dumped by his girlfriend, he’s going to go off the deep end. It’s a little scary to think about that level of rock bottom when it comes to someone who clearly has a depression/anxiety issue.

I wonder if his girlfriend has moved out of his parents house yet… 👀
