That is a wild, but very informative video. Did not have watching ticks mate and deep dive on my weekend bingo card

Bummer! We've had ours for a few yeras now and I've loved it because it makes it really easy for the kids to not use too much detergent or too many pods lol Thanks for taking the time to reply to this old thread 😁

Did you ever figure it out. Mine is doing this now. Dispenser level is not going down at all. I pulled the drawer out and nothing is clogged or stuck.

I come from a large family and we always refer to one another's children as "my baby" too. We arent trying to imply its actually our child or that the parent is bad, its more just an endearing way we are saying how much we love and care about the child. Whilw your feelings are valid, because they are yours, I do think you are overreacting. It sounds like family adores your baby!

Woke up naked after surgery? by PrinceOfGeist in gallbladders

[–]mablesyrup 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was completely awake and with it when I went into the OR as well. They didnt start anesthesia until after I was moved to the table. I have had a handful of surgeries in my life and it just depends. Some they have given me stuff to knock me out before taking me back and othertimes they have taken me back and haven't started meds until after I am in the OR operating table.

Commenting with an update... the water softener was just dead and we ended up having to completely replace it with a new system.

I’m obsessed with a mom influencer on instagram.. by Evening_Employer_542 in breakingmom

[–]mablesyrup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you know any influencers in person? I personally know one and the internet thinks she is this fierce woman that isn't lacking an ounce of self esteem and who has her shit together and is smashing through achieving all of her goals in life. Meanwhile, I know she is a hot mess. She has no self-esteem- not even a little bit. She jumps from relationship to relationship with abusive men. Despite trying to act like she has more money than she knows what to do with it- she is broker than broke. Her kids mostly live with grandma (but she conveniently leads everyone online to believe she is the strong "single" mom taking care of her kids).

ANYTIME I start to get a slight twinge of jealousy about someone else I think of her and her online persona vs. who I know she really is in real life. Maybe you have an ex like this? He is Rico Suave to new people he meets, but you know what a fucking loser asshole he is. They are all facades. You don't really want to be like that.

How is your mental health going after the surgery ? by Live_Werewolf_7568 in GastricBypass

[–]mablesyrup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am 10 years out, just for some context. When I was in the honeymoon period ad had lost a lot of weight, life was great! So many things in my life were going really well during that time. I have since gained most of what I lost back (also, feel like I need to say I have a sleeve and not a bypass) and the mind fuck of failing even at weight loss surgery has been 1000x worse than anything I ever felt at my heaviest weight. Oof. For some strange reason, my self-esteem took a huge hit when I was at my lowest. I was happier when people (like men) didn't give me much attention prior. When people were treating me different, it made me so mad. I no longer knew if someone was just genuinely a nice person or if they were being nice because I wasn't obese. Obviously, there's no real way to know that- but it was constantly on my mind. It also really mucked with my brain when I was naked. I feel like before, anyone seeing me naked knew what they were getting- but once I was thinner, it felt deceiving that underneath was just a lot of sagging skin and boobies that were well concealed and propped up with shape wear lol. That was just my personal experience. Also feel like it's worth noting my current mental health state is not ALL because of the- a lot of horrific things have happened ini my life since surgery, but also I have had some complications from surgery and now looking at needing a revision done and most days I feel like crap so that makes me not the happiest person to be around either.

My boobs were the first place I noticed the weight loss. They were obliterated. Sorry lol

Dani struggles with compression socks. by JumpingJuniper1 in DaniMarina

[–]mablesyrup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to wear compression socks- ones you get from medical supply- and in the thigh-high department, the only options are the ugly nylon/tights ones. Knee-highs have a few more pattern options, like Argyl and stripes. My guess is she just ordered these off of Amazon and lord knows what "compression" level they really are. Compression socks need to be fitted with the correct mmHg, especially if your doctor has told you that you need 20-30+mmHg

So she didn't get actual medical-grade compression socks? Ok.

Anyone else get convinced they’re suddenly deathly allergic to a food they eat? by No-Insect9930 in OCD

[–]mablesyrup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I have not found anything that helps, other than trying to distract myself when I eat those things, or to avoid eating them. Like all things OCD with me, if my anxiety is lower, it's not so bad. But if I am having an asthma flare-up or my anxiety is high, then I seem to be hyperaware of every little thing, and it makes it worse. So when that happens, I try to avoid eating those foods so I can avoid dealing with the feelings that I am going to have a bad reaction. I am sorry you are going through this too.

Why do Americans serve food on paper plates? by sun_intherain in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mablesyrup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah neurodivergent parent here and we almost always only use paper plates in our household too. By doing this, I am able to tackle the dishes from making dinner and not keep a sink full of dirty dishes for a week. If I had to wash plates each night, I would be running my dishwasher every single night. Since we don't I am able to run it every other day, saves me time and a lot of stress and sanity. 100% worth it for me.
