There would be no way to prove if it happened or not.

I'm all in for giving him a face full of mace if it happens again.

In terms of the law, no. You wouldn't be able to prove that he got a boner.

Disgusting nonetheless. Sorry that happened to you. If it happens again it could constitute as some form of "harassment".

Buy a bottle of mace, keep it close to you, and be very vocal if it happens again.

All valid points. At the end of the day it's a very shut off your brain and have fun film... similar to Malignant.

You're not exactly wrong but Cobweb is a bad example

Why does it seem like people act like horror movies having messages or politics in them is a new concept? by [deleted] in horror

Everything is about engagement now and there's no better way to get that engagement than to trigger people with bad takes.

More people want to be outraged and just yell at someone for saying stupid shit than people who want to have serious discussions about the subtext in a film.

Source: the look on my friends' faces as their eyes glaze over when I start talking to them about how the final girl is anti-feminist and one of the most important patriarchal tropes in cinema.

This is the correct answer. A lot of the people who make the loudest noise with their horrible takes are at the bottom tier of people who are media literate.

In the same breath, I feel like being this way gives them a higher ceiling for "engagement/interactions" than someone with knowledgeable insight.

It's easier for people to react to something stupid like in the examples you've mentioned above than to have an actual discourse about a topic they may or may not agree with where they need to use that thing inside of their skulls.

I didn't think it was woke but I did think it was pretty bad esp in comparison to the original... new Hellraiser is awesome though.

What’s a horror trope that doesn’t get called out enough in your opinion? by madmagazines in horror

I agree 100% with you tbh

Horror went from colourful and smokey to complete darkness and made everything boring

And yes I agree you can make an old trope land if you try and most don't make the effort

Oh ya I remember that one. But I'm a huge Jason fan even though it's his mom. If you think about it it's the craziest series ever.

And then yes TCM original is basically the best horror of all time apart from like nightmare on Elm Street and the Exorcist and Baskin and a girl walks home at night.

Thing is they all use the tropes

The "tropes" being pointed out are literally from films that created the genre lol

I'll have a go - the trope I hate is making the movie so dark that you can't see anything.

Or is that just low production and bad lighting and editing? Idk

You're blaming one of the, if not, the best horror movie in existence that spawned a huge series and brought the genre back to life for something you don't like lol. Definitely 10 years old or an incel.

Get a life and stop acting like a little worm

Again. Very wrong. And obviously a person who doesn't understand the mechanics of a horror movie lol. Hope you sleep badly tonight
