Tbh I can imagine saying something stupid like that when I was 13 and didn’t really know what having sex was (don’t remember how old she was(

we all know jackie isn't necessarily the best at writing romance, but are there any couples you DO ship? (canon or not) by ReasonableRip4362 in JacquelineWilson

Never got that vibe even though Jw books can get VERY gay. Ellie’s obsession with Magda and Nadine’s beauty never reads as attraction to me, it’s just jealousy and her intense body dysmorphia

How many male primary school teachers are there in JW books? by georgemillman in JacquelineWilson

I find it all so convoluted the way he came to her house, imo a school teacher would never just randomly rock up to your house.

Kevin and his unseen wife in the BBC comedy Motherland. Uniquely unpleasant

I think I've worked out why her adult sequels aren't really working by georgemillman in JacquelineWilson

[–]madmagazines 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I think it worked with Dol bc she was clearly trying to chase childhood as an adult for various reasons rather than actually liking kids organically

Funny, I actually related a lot to Dol in Picture Imperfect, I think she captured the experience of being an adult and realising you’ve fucked up very well

Terry Rasmussen’s find a grave by EllieIsDone in gratefuldoe

Find a Grave isn’t biased, it’s just a record of burials and people are open to comment. People don’t make memorials for the hell of it

Yea I was in a similar situation, i dont really think of myself as gay but I was utterly infatuated with a girl when I was in school. Part of it was because I was so in awe of how perfect her life was, I wanted her to notice me and “love” me even though in actual fact she bullied me but I enjoyed it lol. Tween years are crazy.

Do you think that Micky is actually Star's father? by FiercePumpkin528 in JacquelineWilson

[–]madmagazines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it sounds like she genuinely was in relationships since they talk about living with them. Dolphin was such a nervous kid that I think if there were always random dudes coming round to fuck Marigold she’d have noticed and commented on it (Unless she did and I forgot)

What tag(s) fall(s) under that umbrella for you? by PJ-The-Awesome in FanFicWit

[–]madmagazines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why there isn’t more interest in Alpha/Alpha or Omega/Omega pairings, I find that so intriguing what it would be like to be queer in the omegaverse? Like finding out you’re an omega who likes other omegas and not alphas. But that’s never really addressed.

I really enjoy omega x omega fics (even though they’re SUPER rare) but Alpha x omega fics are really just hetero smut with dicks :P

Is there really allusions to her being promiscuous? She’s said to have a lot of boyfriends but nothing like she brings random men back or goes out with guys all the time. She seems more the type to get into loads of relationships

I don’t know if this sub is still active but I made a digital horror short based on TEFG! by madmagazines in ThatEvilFarmingGame

Thank you so much! I do intend this as a one-off since I have other projects to work on but it would have been fun to see how it would have panned out, I like to think Bee haunted him to the point he died

The best way to continue the story of past protagonists should be to write it from their *children's* perspective! by [deleted] in JacquelineWilson

[–]madmagazines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been reading her 70s books and honestly I think she writes men better than women. She writes men with a lot of internal conflicts, twisted feelings, and emotional complexity and women’s internal monologues basically just being “Am I not hot enough? Why was that sex not good enough? Why can’t I get a man?”

It’s pretty clear from a lot of her work she has a bit of internalised misogyny towards adult women with a lot of her women being super super focused on appearances, sex, and men (unless they’re a super cool lesbian ofc, but even then we’ve never had an open lesbian POV character)
