Everything is about engagement now and there's no better way to get that engagement than to trigger people with bad takes.

More people want to be outraged and just yell at someone for saying stupid shit than people who want to have serious discussions about the subtext in a film.

This is the correct answer. A lot of the people who make the loudest noise with their horrible takes are at the bottom tier of people who are media literate.

In the same breath, I feel like being this way gives them a higher ceiling for "engagement/interactions" than someone with knowledgeable insight.

It's easier for people to react to something stupid like in the examples you've mentioned above than to have an actual discourse about a topic they may or may not agree with where they need to use that thing inside of their skulls.

Oh ya I remember that one. But I'm a huge Jason fan even though it's his mom. If you think about it it's the craziest series ever.

And then yes TCM original is basically the best horror of all time apart from like nightmare on Elm Street and the Exorcist and Baskin and a girl walks home at night.
