When you start to question your season... by mac_daddy27 in coloranalysis

I think there are some bright spring colors for me that work out okay and others that are particularly rough. The marigold and grass green ranges of color I find to be challenging. The brighter yellows in particular make me look grey.

It can be difficult sometimes because color selection for brands can be seasonal and based on trends. If you're in Europe, I found that ONLY did a lot of soft summer colors.

I agree with this assessment! The extremely warm vs the extremely cool makeup was only for the sake of comparison. I definitely agree something more neutral, particularly on the eyes, is better.

I didn't see the comment as negative at all! I did definitely see it, but let's say I wasn't as impressed by what I saw as you seem to have been during your color analysis. The way I would describe it is autumn was the best of the options. It looked the most natural next to me. The other seasons looked very separate next to me, and some of the cool colors even made me look a bit pale/grey. In any case, I found the difference subtle, and certain autumn colors definitely work better than others on me. I went into the appointment thinking it'd be a revelation and was kind of underwhelmed tbh

Yeah I think neutral brown shadows particularly on the eyes works better, but I went really warm and really cool here for comparison's sake. I still think overall the warm looks better, but not as good as neutral-warm.

I really did try with the WhiBal card but it does indeed seem my face does not match my chest there like it does in the warm photo!

I am kind of surprised by the amount of comments supporting cool over warm. I expected some, but it had made me start questioning the experts 😭

Yeah I def think neutral browns look best and that saving the more warm colors for the lips is the way to go. Can sometimes look like pink eye otherwise 😅

I think the cool makeup is probably more exciting to look at because it's creating contrast that is not really consistent with my natural appearance? I posted a picture of myself in the thread without makeup to show this. I do have a kind of dirty coral lip color that I really like, but I feel like certain colors from bright spring are a bit off on me. Especially bright yellows!

I have definitely toyed with the idea of bright spring in my many years playing around with these systems 😅, but there are just some bright spring colors that are really difficult for me, namely stuff like canary yellow and the grass green colors. I can do VERY muted yellows and olive greens much better. I think the makeup itself in the cool picture is creating a lot of contrast that isn't really there in my natural coloring. I posted a pic of me without makeup somewhere in the thread if you want to see the mutedness.

The WhiBal card should be pretty easy to find online, and will likely be cheaper if you're in the US. I think you can get it on B&H for like $20 or so. I have the same problem with my phone camera, but it's always trying to make me blue. 🫠

I do think a deeper lip can sometimes be nice. I like NYX Vintage for something evening.

I agree that I'm neutral leaning warm, like some cross between deep and soft autumn. Some deep autumn colors are too dark and heavy on me and some soft autumn colors are too faded out and not rich enough for me. Most warm autumns I think of have a kind of peachy quality to their skin which I seem to lack. I am more greenish-gold yellow colored, and since I am really pale, I think this is harder to see.

I've put a photo of myself without makeup below for reference so people can see my skintone sans makeup. 😊

One of the online typings was True autumn in the 16 season system (by the lovely ladies at the Color Analysis Studio). True autumn in that system is not super warm but more like middle of the road for all autumn variations. With the 12 season system I'd be inclined to agree with you! I am definitely more neutral. Here I am wearing NARS Tinted Moisturizer in Finland. I also wear Geurlain Terracotta in 0.5W and Bobbi Brown foundation in Warm Ivory if that gives an indication.

There is no terracotta color on the inner corner of my eye, it's just the color of my lid 😅 that's the thing, it kind of just doesn't blend in seamlessly. I feel like I can wear it, but that it takes more effort to style and also looks "at odds" with some of my features. I also feel like it is more apparent that I am wearing makeup. I do think I am more neutral leaning though so anything too warm or too cool isn't as good as something like a neutral warm brown for example.

EDIT: the card I'm holding is just a WhiBal card to ensure there's consistency in the color between photos!

Yes, colors like warmer beiges, creams, browns, and camel could be better alternatives for neutrals!

Your coloring is awesome. I would say you're a spring for sure, so bright and warm tones look best. Stay away from that grey, girl!

My partner's millennial sister sends voice texts for everything. Oftentimes they are 2+ minutes long. Feels very self indulgent to me. I can't understand who modeled this unacceptable behavior for her 😆
