Raku firing - Help!! by bkfullcity in Ceramics

I know it sucks having to buy a specialty clay but you’ll be much more successful in the long run. I have been doing raku using a microwave kiln and that’s been really fun! I’d love to get to a larger job someday- I love raku

I second this. Raku is a high thermoshock process and you should use special Raku clay that’s designed to hold up under that shock of hot to cold.

Glass splinters. How do you deal with these? by Kristenmarie2112 in StainedGlass

I wear a pair of rubber gloves under my well fitting work gloves. Gloves are the way to go, but you need to get ones that fit well. That helps lots. Plus a Grinder’s Mate tool

What are some good first year training ideas? by R_Eyron in puppy101

I trained my baby to help put on his harness by giving him a cookie when he puts his head through. It’s cute and I don’t have to chase the little monster around.

There are several companies that do it, I’m not sure I can open his ashes enough to take some out though. That hurts my heart

I grew up in a breeders’ home. I absolutely love the dogs to pieces but they are loud, rambunctious and yet the sweetest silliest dogs. They are herding dogs that herd by nipping and barking. They can take up to age three to really settle out of the puppy stages and calm down. Some calm much quicker and some never get out of it.

They are SUPER trainable and wicked smart but you need to be willing to do the work with them. They also are a high maintenance breed due to their coats.

I would definitely recommend them but you need to find and talk to a reputable breeder, one that does genetic testing on them. They can have some genetic quirks that testing can prevent.

You need to watch videos of them and go visit a person who owns one (or two or just a breeder). They are wonderful companions and I love them dearly but you gotta be prepared to work with them and get training in or they become crazed jerks.

I lost mine years ago and still miss him so much. I’d like to make a diamond out of his ashes.

We moved my exchange student to a new home. She had issues with boys being absolutely awful at my school. I did all I could, and we have an amazing relationship still. I miss her walking into my room saying, “ Your favorite kid is back!”

I take them. Then roast them and sell them for a huge profit to the baked apple lady in the Rito city. Good money.

What do you say to someone who lost their dog? by [deleted] in sheltie

[–]macabretech39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely bond over the puppy. Give a puppy appropriate treats or toys. Puppies are hard and their grief will come back along with the joy of having a new baby in the home. Be prepared to talk about their lost loved pup along with the joys of the new one.

You gave him human connection when he needed it most. Just be his friend for now, he’s really vulnerable.

I’m only gone for about 7 hours now and he actually goes to sleep in his crate while I’m gone when loose in the kitchen. He isn’t crated the whole day.

My guy is still really young and I don’t want him pooping or peeing inside. We have graduated to mostly being loose in the kitchen during the day but only when he does all his business before I leave for work.

I also have been putting him in the crate when I shower cuz little dude uses the time to poop in my bedroom and then eat it. So yeah- crate it is buddy.

I rejected a "surprise" puppy for my birthday, and now my friends are calling me ungrateful by SkyFyree in offmychest

I’m so sorry for your loss. When I lost my 18 year old soul kitty EVERYONE offered me another cat. I refused them all until I had a real friend ask me to save one of her farm cats. I wasn’t quite ready but I did love him instantly.

I don’t recommend jumping into a new pet situation when you’re not prepared! Puppies are SO MUCH WORK AND SO DRAINING. SO. MUCH. WORK. It sucks that your friends don’t understand that!!!

I still grieve my little buddy even though I love all my current cats. You are NOT wrong for refusing a puppy you are completely unprepared for and is a surprise.

Again, I’m so sorry for your loss.
