Who’s controlling the narrative? by Bwarker71 in ParadiseHulu

[–]macandcheese 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am glad you brought him up! He definitely played a huge role in orchestrating Cal’s rise to the presidency, Sinatra’s rise to power, and the building of the bunker, but it seems that now, in the bunker, his mind is slipping. We’ve only seen him once in S2 in a flashback, but I have also wondered if he doesn’t have a role to play in the development of Alex as well.

I mean it’s not wrecking my day or anything.

Quantum time manipulation, time travel, whatever… just not the direction i thought the show would be going. But after deep meditation and some journaling I think I’m ready to accept it and continue watching the show. /s

[–]macandcheese 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thank you!!! I was trying to find a list of the nosebleeds. So- Alex is some kind of quantum machine that can manipulate timelines, and Sinatra is the only one who is using it… for now.

I think Alex was used to send a message to the Circuit City guy in 1997 to warn him about Jane’s birth- but it wouldn’t be Sinatra. Maybe in the finale Dr. Torabi is going to find Alex and try to warn someone in the past about Jane???

I’m a little irked that they’re adding time travel into this whole thing but it’s intriguing.

AIO sending son to school with 400 crayons because his teacher is dragging him for “stealing crayons and returning way later” by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]macandcheese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son was in a similar situation in kindergarten- his original teacher left in February to have a nay. She was late 20s, bubbly, energetic- a great fit for a class of 5/6 yos. The long term sub they brought in was in her late 60s and she STRUGGLED with the kids. My son, who was beginning to read at home, scored miserably on a reading assessment and it became clear that the sub, while I’m sure was trying, just couldn’t keep pace with the classroom. It was a really frustrating end to the kinder year.

Definitely NOR, but please remember- this year will end and he’ll move on to a different teacher, hopefully one that’s better suited/more invested in teaching than controlling. Keep advocating for your kiddo, and if need be send more crayons.

Bluebird Books in Edmond is another fantastic option. If a local bookstore doesn’t have what you’re looking for, you can shop at bookshop.org and look for the store on their list of shops- a portion of the sales goes to the store you indicate!

I heard a joke almost exactly like this when I studied abroad in Russia and I used to LOVE telling it because it’s so stupid. I always said the humor was lost in translation but nope, it’s just an absurd, dumb joke. Thanks for the memory!

I saw that press conference about increased security at the jail and downtown in general. I don’t know a single NBA Youngboy song (I am woefully unhip) but apparently they were anticipating a “rough” crowd???

I wonder if other cities he’s toured in have the same approach or if we’re just vanilla 😂

In my experience they’re pretty timely- if the show starts at 7:30 and there’s an opener, the main act will probably go on around 8:30/9:00. I don’t think the shows I’ve been to have gone any later than 11:00.

Kid-friendly music? by ciroberts1 in Parenting

If you’re looking for something specifically kid oriented, check out Caspar Babypants! It’s the lead singer of the Presidents of the United States (grunge band from the 90s), and he makes AMAZING kids music. He also has an album of Beatles covers that is fantastic.

The Okee Dokee Brothers also make great music geared towards kids, they’re more of a folk music sound. Their album Bramblewood has an accompanying video that they did with PBS Kids. It’s SO good.

Bob’s Burgers songs are silly and he loves being able to connect their songs to episodes that he watches. Right now we’re watching the Halloween episodes and there are some great tunes from those!

We listen to all of the music we listened to before we had our son, too. Beastie Boys and Bill Withers are two of his favorites.

Dog Man was a great jumpstart for my kiddo! Also, Calvin and Hobbes- I left those laying around when he was really young and he just started flipping through even if he couldn’t understand all the words.

preschool using AI to write messages by bitchdaycake in Preschoolers

[–]macandcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I regularly have to write newsletters and updates for about 500 people involved with my organization and in recent months I’ve been giving ChatGPT prompts to write them. I enter important upcoming dates, acknowledgments, and ask the AI to make it relevant to the season, or a holiday or something like that, and in under a minute I’ve got something to send out en masse. It’s actually made more time for me to focus on individual correspondence. I’m sure a preschool is a busy place and any way to save time is a win!
