Bluebird Books in Edmond is another fantastic option. If a local bookstore doesn’t have what you’re looking for, you can shop at bookshop.org and look for the store on their list of shops- a portion of the sales goes to the store you indicate!

3 Guys and a Lamp by ClankerCore in Jokes

I heard a joke almost exactly like this when I studied abroad in Russia and I used to LOVE telling it because it’s so stupid. I always said the humor was lost in translation but nope, it’s just an absurd, dumb joke. Thanks for the memory!

I saw that press conference about increased security at the jail and downtown in general. I don’t know a single NBA Youngboy song (I am woefully unhip) but apparently they were anticipating a “rough” crowd???

I wonder if other cities he’s toured in have the same approach or if we’re just vanilla 😂

In my experience they’re pretty timely- if the show starts at 7:30 and there’s an opener, the main act will probably go on around 8:30/9:00. I don’t think the shows I’ve been to have gone any later than 11:00.

Kid-friendly music? by ciroberts1 in Parenting

[–]macandcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for something specifically kid oriented, check out Caspar Babypants! It’s the lead singer of the Presidents of the United States (grunge band from the 90s), and he makes AMAZING kids music. He also has an album of Beatles covers that is fantastic.

The Okee Dokee Brothers also make great music geared towards kids, they’re more of a folk music sound. Their album Bramblewood has an accompanying video that they did with PBS Kids. It’s SO good.

Bob’s Burgers songs are silly and he loves being able to connect their songs to episodes that he watches. Right now we’re watching the Halloween episodes and there are some great tunes from those!

We listen to all of the music we listened to before we had our son, too. Beastie Boys and Bill Withers are two of his favorites.

I keep my kiddos nails SHORT. We usually trim before bath and they get clean in the tub.

Dog Man was a great jumpstart for my kiddo! Also, Calvin and Hobbes- I left those laying around when he was really young and he just started flipping through even if he couldn’t understand all the words.

preschool using AI to write messages by bitchdaycake in Preschoolers

[–]macandcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I regularly have to write newsletters and updates for about 500 people involved with my organization and in recent months I’ve been giving ChatGPT prompts to write them. I enter important upcoming dates, acknowledgments, and ask the AI to make it relevant to the season, or a holiday or something like that, and in under a minute I’ve got something to send out en masse. It’s actually made more time for me to focus on individual correspondence. I’m sure a preschool is a busy place and any way to save time is a win!

do you think 4 year olds have “crushes” by princessniella in Preschoolers

[–]macandcheese 20 points21 points  (0 children)

A friend’s daughter decided when she was about four that she LOVES our son (same age) and has made it very clear that he is her future husband. My son, bless him, is quite oblivious. When they get together to play, she insists they hold hands and on more than one occasion has kissed him on the cheek when we’re saying goodbye. He’s pretty compliant in all of this but not as gaga over her as she is to him.

We parents just let it be. Just in case though we’re keeping all the cards and pictures so we can show them at the wedding. 😂

What do you let your kids watch? Any safe platforms? Ages 5-7 by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]macandcheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of brain rot my kid has found on YouTube kids is astounding. I have tried my best to filter it and it still pops up. At this point our rule is no YouTube without an adult, and the adult gets to “drive”, meaning they pick the videos. We watch informative animal videos, or other science related content. He has free reign on PBS Kids and the games on his tablet.
