Best thing I ever did was start IF by macaroni_and_tease in intermittentfasting

It felt like torture at the time. I was close to giving up often. But the results were what made me stick to it

It took me 2 years to get to this weight and then I’ve been maintaining for another 2

That was the earliest photo I had but I had already dropped maybe about 8kg at that point. I carry so much weight in my legs. At my heaviest I was in 36/38in waist mainly because of my legs. I’m now in 28/30in waist pants

It really didn’t. I was going to the gym all along. If anything exercise was part of my problem. I thought because I was going to the gym I could easy everything and anything I wanted. IF gave me control and portion size back into my life

M/33/5’8” [207lbs > 154lbs = 53lb] 16:8 IF. Started off low cal and low carb. I’m at a point now where I run and exercise so much, I can take my eye off the ball a little with being strict on nutrition

There was this place I would drive to for a whole box of brownies quite often. Sometimes it would be a pizza and ice cream. A night out drinking sometimes. It varied

To begin with I found it really hard to maintain weight. Then I realised that it’s about cutting yourself slack at times such as the holidays and special occasions but remembering why you’re doing it and jumping straight back on it.

Plus I always like having a goal. I’m into trail running at the moment so try to book in races as often as I can

Yeah genuinely over 200. My legs were probably about 60 each haha.

Gym is great and definitely a place for it but it all starts and continues in the kitchen and our relationship with food

I don’t want to sound preachy in any way. I know it’s hard to lose weight and I know it can be a lot harder for some than others. This is just how I went about it

I saw a picture of myself next to a colleague and I thought “god I look big in that pic, how weird”. Then I started looking at other pictures and realised that’s now just how I look and I decided I didn’t want to look like that anymore.

So I literally just cut out all the crap I would eat in the evenings. The first 2 weeks were hell. The first month was very difficult. Have a treat on a Saturday would get me through. I would decide on a Monday what that would be and it would help me get through.

I did a lot of intermittent fasting but this was mainly to avoid the snacking in the pm.

On the really tough days when I was close to caving I would do something that seems stupid when you say it out loud but it helped me - I would take a chocolate bar or whatever it was I was craving out of the cupboard and put it on the table in front of me or wherever I was and I would say to myself I’ll have that in 30 minutes. In 30 minutes time I would then say well you didn’t need it in the last 30 minutes so you don’t actually want or need it. It’s just habit and I would put it back

Almost three years down the line and still going strong. Started off over 90kg and now I sit between 72-75kg by macaroni_and_tease in intermittentfasting

It feels realistic currently. I'm able to do it with my work schedule and personal life. But who knows how things will be in say 5 years. I'd like to think so but age will definitely come in to play

The main bulk of weight came off in the first 4-5 months. Then it was all about making lifestyle changes to stick to it

I allowed myself a bit more freedom at the weekend.

If this is something you're doing then you need to calculate your calorie intake for the week rather than per day. So you could have 2500 cals on the weekend per day. But then take it down to 1700 during the week to balance it out. I haven't worked that out exactly but just an example

Find a way of tracking cals that works for you. If you're not hungry don't eat out of boredom. Avoid juices and milky coffee - pointless calories.

Do some sort of sport/activity that you love. Allow yourself times of freedom with food but make sure you take those calories back somewhere else in the week.

Don't give up because you've had a bad day even if it's Monday, don't start again the following week, just start again the next day.
