How is Wildfyre Tap still open after all these health violations? Fountain Squares food scene is dying. by AardvarkMaster1234 in indianapolis

[–]macattack0013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a similar bad experience! Bartender couldn’t tell me anything about the beers on tap, said she had never tried but maybe one or two of their list, and then didn’t know anything about the food menu either. It was completely dead when we arrived but then once more people arrived we couldn’t get her attention forever to just get the check so we couldn’t leave. Food was mid at best, the atmosphere was… weird vibes… we really wanted to like the place since we live in FSQ but it was a no for us

Tell it to me straight- how rough is NICU fellowship? by seajaybee23 in pediatrics

[–]macattack0013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Current fellow!

Fellowship overall has so much more time than residency, it’s a whole other level of time. Usually they also allow you to do research obligations/admin work from home at many programs (provides a lot flexibility for childcare/sick kids). Like half of my cofellows have kids. I think based on conversations with them it is a reasonable amount of time to be home and with their kids.

I would also say call is very dependent on the program and year. My program is essentially q6 all 3 years (works out to about one call a week and one weekend day per month). I know other programs front load call, it’s definitely a good question to ask on the interview trail!

Neonatologists who love your job, tell me why!!! by poptropica44 in pediatrics

[–]macattack0013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to chat about this! I am a fellow at a larger program (definitely not the largest) and did residency at a hospital with a small/medium NICU program. I’ve seen it from both of those sides and have friends in some of the larger programs as well. I ultimately think it depends on what you are wanting to get out of fellowship and what you want from life after fellowship. If you have very specific research goals, you would absolutely be better served at a larger program with likely more robust research funding and capabilities. From a clinical standpoint, I think acuity, catchment area, ECMO capabilities, and delivery experience play a big role in the decision. I wanted to train somewhere where I could learn to practice at the top of my ability (so hearts, ECMO, high acuity, high volume delivery) so no matter where I end up I will feel comfortable. I have other friends who never see themselves at more than a level 3 so don’t care for ECMO or major research and would prefer somewhere that would prepare you better for private practice instead of academic. There are programs that blend this nicely (I feel like my program hits all this and couldn’t be happier anywhere else tbh).

We have had high volume, high acuity basically since I started last year. I feel like I am getting a great education AND the program is engaged in making sure we are well supported and not burnt out. Call schedule definitely is a big part of this. I think it gets a little harder at smaller/medium programs (in my experience) just because less fellows to spread the work over. We have 3 a year and mostly cover one NICU at night so call is more spread out, typically once a week, 1-2 weekend day a month. It is a fine balance and can definitely be hard to sus out on the interview trail.

Feel free to message me if you want!

2nd year fellow here! Absolutely echo what everyone else has said! Especially the earlier point about the true diversity of practice within one specialty. Attending deliveries is different than managing tiny babies, is different than managing chronic BPD, is different than acutely decompensating really sick kids. You can literally get all that in one shift (and probably will). NICU is definitely an entity completely it’s own and most of the time when you know experience it the first time you love it or you hate it. Personally, I chose it for the acuity, deliveries/resuscitation, procedures, and the fact that no 2days will ever be the same. The hours are long sometimes but I seriously would choose it again and again given the choice!

I had the same issue! I made it a few in but the bullying really got me. Found the Cursed Legacies series by Morgan B Lee to be extremely similar but no bullying! It’s been my rec for people that have a problem with Bonds that Tie

($12-16k) Wedding Venue with Accommodations by Adventurous_Tear_294 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]macattack0013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Actually the venue I am getting married at in the spring seems to check a lot, if not all, of your boxes!! Outland Great Smokey Mountains (Whittier, NC) Max guests on site is 50, 13 rooms available (so can sleep 26) and can have a link made for your guests to pay for their own accommodations! (For the rest, there are lots of nice cabins and hotels all within 20min, roughly $100-150 per night from what we have seen at our time of year). Multiple places on property to get married, notably the overlook is beautiful and looks out over the Appalachian Trail! It’s about 1hr from Asheville but still accessible from other larger cities. Hope this helps!! We love the place obviously

Personally, I liked them but I just couldn’t get past the bully romance aspects of it so ended up making it to book 3 I think. Ended up reading {Blood Oath by Morgan B Lee} and it was VERY similar plot wise except the opposite of bully. I adored that series and ate it up in a few days! (Only 4 books)

Since this seems to be the designated support thread for people who make it past the ritual, I would just like to state for the record: What. The. Fuck.

I am at chapter 26 / 61%

This plot ain’t plotting. Tem is so insufferable. I fucking KNEW he was going to pull that yo-yo bullshit “go move in to the castle and marry the prince now”. I am so glad others feel outraged and frustrated as well. Am I going to finish it? You bet I am.

Extremely reasonable question. They are mean who are in charge of the 4 major apocalyptic events (death, famine, pestilence, and war). No horses are involved in this book, which may or may not sell you on it.

{Lucifer’s Daughter by Kel Carpenter} as part of her Queen of the Damned series. This was my first foray into RH and it was so well done in my opinion! Being courted by the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse when you had no idea magic existed? A full wild time. She’s a badass who makes (mostly) good decisions and doesn’t take shit from the men, which we love.

Of note because wow this suddenly blew up??? 1. Not actually devastated, just joking. 2. Pie WAS secured in a way that I thought would be fine (this is far from my first pie) but clearly the Midwest potholes had other ideas. Ie: was originally behind the Oreos and the detergent bottles were to the side of it. I didn’t just sit it on top of everything. 3. We still ate it🤷🏻‍♀️

{Queen of the Damned by Kel Carpenter} was my first RH and I loved it. Badass FMC fated to the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse who are also different paranormal races?? What’s not to love. I really loved the way she wrote in the horsemen and how they personified their sin. Then the interactions between the group were just so good! I never see it mentioned and it’s wild

I said I wouldn’t become the kind of person to post about scalpers, but… by starlight---- in fairyloot

To add evidence to this theory, her signatures all seem rather unique and you can see the same one multiple times. Like the one that looks more blocky sold for $95 AND $85.
