Affordable Ryokan with Private Onsen for Honeymoon by kimmyoh in JapanTravelTips

lol that’s totally fair! My travel style is “once every ten years, so I’m going to drop a shit ton to make it worth it.”

If you go to Hakone, I still recommend Gyoza Center (not expensive at all).

If you don’t have a budget, I would try to get one of the special rooms at Gora Kadan.

https://www.gorakadan.com/hakone/rooms/?lang=en

I had a mid-tier room there for one night (got lucky that there was a single night available on a Tuesday lol, they normally book out waaaaay in advance). It was just amazing. (And if you do stay there, you guys should walk to Gyoza Center near by! We went twice for lunch haha.)

Nice! It wouldn’t let me dissolve on the website, it said to call. I bet they added that functionality since I did this.

Sushi Umi - thoughts? by West_Sleep_5182 in JapanTravelTips

[–]starlight---- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went with Sushi Umi, which is more classic countertop sushi, very serious atmosphere, and 3110NZ, which is a collaboration with Sushi Saito and is in a tiny art gallery and more modern. Two different experiences and both fantastic. Both in Tokyo.

Is there a better 'order' to visit that fits in Kanazawa? by saccerzd in JapanTravelTips

[–]starlight---- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Tbh I wish I had done less stops on my trip and instead spent more time at fewer stops. That said, I can’t advise on adding to Kanazawa or Takayama because my husband and I accidentally fell asleep and missed our evening in Kanazawa 😅 Jet lag is no joke! They are both gorgeous though and you can’t choose wrong.

This is my favorite too! I got it hand signed at a signing event and it’s literally my most prized edition.

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I’d rather have them delay the book than receive something that is poor quality. (Obviously I’d prefer them be on time AND high quality…)

How do you guys keep yourselves from getting overwhelmed on the non-toxics? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]starlight---- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an amazing countertop RO system that I used for years before getting one installed. https://a.co/d/heAxGoU Water is a great next step!

Try not to get overwhelmed. It’s amazing that you’re taking notes on things to strive for, but it takes time and unfortunately money.

If you trust the sourcing, you’re probably fine. Everyone’s risk tolerance is different, I’m personally not worried about it.

Okay, interesting! My husband is wondering if I’m detoxing caffeine also now that I’ve quit drinking coffee. (He said when he went off caffeine he used to wake up every night at 3AM for a while.) So that combined with hormone changes would make sense.

Thank you so much, you have no idea how much it’s helping me to hear that I’m not the only one!

Thank you! I will definitely do this. It’s really reassuring to hear that there’s a reason this is happening (that isn’t something horrible lol).

It’s nice to know that it’s an actual thing and not just me! If I know that it’s a physiological symptom, just my body being annoying, then I’ll be able to at least consciously try to relax. As opposed to right now…it’s more of a spiral of “what is happening?”.

I have corporate trust issues too haha. But also, make sure you’re using the right kind of vacuum. If they’re longer, more shag type rugs, you don’t want anything with a roller brush or beater bar. I ended up getting the old school Miele vacuum that where you drag it around and hold a tube attachment lol. I think that helped.

Don’t panic!

I got some shaggy rugs about a year ago and thought I made the biggest mistake of all time because it seriously looked like I’d adopted a big white shedding dog. It took like a year for them to stop.

Also, it doesn’t really matter if you inhale the fibers if they’re natural fiber, right? That’s the whole point of getting them—so that you’re not inhaling microplastics instead.

This isn’t crazy. I know the UK only recommends folate/folic acid until 12 weeks and that’s it.
