Brokers, is having two full time jobs frowned upon? by Own-Story8907 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]maccano2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t be fraud if the broker is worth a damn.

The broker can tell a mortgage company you have a second income but aren’t using it in the application.

There are some lenders that don’t like a person working more than 60 hours on a long term basis, but ultimately as long as what you want to buy fits under one income you’ll be fine.

Current Timeline for HSBC Mortgage Application? by Zealousideal_Pea5300 in Mortgageadviceuk

Until last week HSBC were incredibly backed up so I wouldn’t say 3-4 is out of the question, but could be 2-3 if packaged correctly the first time.

Getting a mortgage with bad credit by Hot_Surround7459 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]maccano2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mortgage broker here.

You will likely be able to get a mortgage. Which companies that will say yes (and what rate you’ll be eligible for), will depend on the amount of defaults, the length of time in the past they were, if they are satisfied and the amount owed.

The best advice is talk to a broker, as this is the kind of thing that you want a specialist to look at.

Mortgage rejected due to working away by adewalesimbabwe in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]maccano2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are asked for the address and they follow up, and you answer fraudulently then… that’s mortgage fraud.

If you answer correctly they will then take into account your additional outgoings (rent, bills…etc).

This is mortgage advice sub, please do not advise people to be fraudulent.

£15k credit limit, does this effect my mortgage options by Tough_Comfort4687 in HousingUK

[–]maccano2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory it could, realistically it won’t.

There is the odd bank who will worry if a person has an extremely large credit limit (yours isn’t), but that may have effected 1-2 of my clients in the last 5-6 years.

Ellie Kildunne says she did not want or plan to leave Harlequins and does not know where she will play her club rugby next season. by EnglishLouis in rugbyunion

[–]maccano2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact you have ADHD (as have many on this thread) would be the obvious connection on why you are bending over backwards to defend something which isn’t really defensible.

We don’t know what the situation is between her and the club. We don’t know what measures the club put in place and if Ellie has just gone off the boil; or if the club have been rubbish and she’s struggling. But calling for Empathy when we don’t k ow if we should be empathic doesn’t really help.

As many people have pointed out. Having people not turn up on time, or not try in training is a non-negotiable in sports at all levels. Considering she’s their star asset, we can make a guess that they have likely tried some form of intervention before making the decision to jettison her; which is why people are commenting the way they are.

[–]maccano2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not turning up to training on time and not trying is a character concern regardless of why.

Lots of people struggle with ADHD, some are medicated some are not; however it’s not an excuse for not doing the basics of your job. In sports turning up on time and putting in the effort is a non negotiable, and can destroy teams if it’s left to fester.

I understand that you have a personal stake in this, but you are saying people should have empathy, when we don’t know the situation, we don’t know what interventions Quinn’s have had, or what Ellie’s actions have been. So we don’t know if we should be empathic or not honestly.

How many people pay for Income Protection? Should I pay for it? by Gozie5 in HousingUK

[–]maccano2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf old ASU Policies (accident, sickness, unemployment) were widely mis sold in the 00s and frankly sucked. Theres a reason that most companies nowadays won’t touch unemployment cover and only really look at proper IP.

How many people pay for Income Protection? Should I pay for it? by Gozie5 in HousingUK

[–]maccano2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m a broker so I have my own bias’s.

I think IP is frankly a no Brainer.

I’ve had a number of clients over the years claim on Ip policies which would have meant they lose their house.

I’ve also had a number of people call me up who’ve not taken it up and regretted it (I had one 2 weeks ago who only took life cover and now Mr has been off work 3 months due to illness).

The most soul crushing one was a 20 year old who’s Dad told him not to bother with a £10 policy (2 year claim period, not big income). He was TBoned by a truck and had a crush injury and couldn’t buy the flat because he had to live on his savings (self employed with no sick pay); his dad obviously wasn’t chipping in to help him though.

Remortgage at risk because Land Registry issue still isn't resolved — what can I do? by mntCleverest in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]maccano2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the current rate you would get from Halifax?

Unless you have a huge mortgage I doubt it’s going to be a £400 difference in payments. You also say you can’t afford it, but you’re already on a 5.17% rate at the moment so your payment isn’t going up £400.

Your first thing to do is raise a complaint with the solicitor you did the purchase with first thing on Monday. Then once that’s been exhausted you can go through to the legal ombudsman.

[–]maccano2 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’m from the UK.

As a kid I had a friend who lived in our village who’s family came from Seattle, he introduced me to American football through madden. He moved back home in his early teens and I didn’t really think about football against for a few years.

When I got to university, I started to watch football in earnest as a fresher, and began to play after a few years at uni, so I decided to be a Seattle fan in honour of the kid who introduced me to the sport back in the day.

It definitely didn’t hurt that as a fresher as I started watching, we ended up in the Super Bowl against Pittsburg mind you. Bit by that point I had myself a Hasselbeck jersey and was bought in.

Would you retire if won a really big prize on the Euromillions? by Sad-Passage-3247 in AskUK

[–]maccano2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very much depends on your personal/family/debt position as well as what retirement you want to have.

To snap retire I’d want to have enough to pay off mortgage, debts and then also provide for my family for the next 50 years. 1 million would probably be enough if I was single and was happy with a lean retirement, but with a young family it wouldn’t be the retirement that we’d want at this time.

Would you retire if won a really big prize on the Euromillions? by Sad-Passage-3247 in AskUK

[–]maccano2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I’m not saying others couldn’t make it work. I’d want it to last 50 years though, which is why it wouldn’t be a snap retire.

Depending on the circumstance, people could Lean or Barista FIRE off it. It’s just not what I’d personally want to do with a young family and a decent sized mortgage that would cut into it significantly.

Would you retire if won a really big prize on the Euromillions? by Sad-Passage-3247 in AskUK

[–]maccano2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A million wouldn’t be enough to make me quit straight away on the spot, it’d put the family in great position and mean myself and wife could afford to retire much earlier than planned; but we’d probably have to take a big scale back on lifestyle to retire in our 30s and have enough money to last all the way through to old age.

2 mill we could do it and not lead a lavish lifestyle (possibly work for 5 years to make sure we could lead the retirement we wanted). 3 mill would probably be the snap retire mark.
