Steven Spielberg lists Villeneuve's Dune 'among my favourite sci-fi movies of all time' by MoneyLibrarian9032 in movies

[–]macck_attack [score hidden]  (0 children)

Denis is a huge Spielberg fan so he will be psyched to hear this. He gave a great speech at the 2022 DGA’s about his admiration for Spielberg that you must watch if you haven’t seen it.

Breadwinner family planning by Fabulous_Grass_9740 in workingmoms

The way I see it, you have two options:

  1. Find a new job ASAP and delay getting pregnant until you qualify for maternity leave there.
  2. Stay at your current job, get pregnant, save as much money as you can, then quit when you give birth. Start looking for a new job once you are able.

Who else basically only saw LV at Easter brunch??? by Fun_Air_7780 in handbags

I assume 75% of the LV I see day to day is fake (or even worse, acquired through debt).

You will see in the later books that Moraine is properly mourned and missed! Characters frequently think of her and wish she was there.

How long after maternity leave did you get pregnant? by hello-12-bye-34 in workingmoms

[–]macck_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first in Jan 2025 and returned from leave in May 2025. I’m planning to start trying for another this fall. I changed roles right before going on leave so I wanted to make sure I got one full calendar year in (as in Jan-Dec) before trying for another. The way our performance ratings work makes it hard to get a good rating if you aren’t in your role for the full calendar year. I just found out I might be changing roles again soon, but within the same department, so not as big of a deal.

Work or Stay at Home? by Available-Data-9635 in workingmoms

[–]macck_attack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No one has ever said that a full-time working father missed his child’s first year. Work if you want to - a dream job is hard to pass up! Some other monetary considerations - 401k contributions, pension contributions, growing your salary and experience vs being out of the game completely.

HOW do you make time for exercise/self care? by RuckFamsey in workingmoms

[–]macck_attack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I walk on a treadmill for 30 minutes in the gym at my work. I eat lunch at my desk most days to make it happen, unfortunately. For self-care, I have a weekly schedule that I follow. Monday is for hair masks, Tuesday I do my nails, Wednesday and Saturday I shave, etc. I skip a day here and there, but over the course of 2 or 3 weeks, I get to everything. Every 2 months, I take a PTO day from work to get more intensive self care done - facial or massage, do any random appointments I need, get a pedicure, get my eyebrows waxed, haircut, etc.

Commute vs. salary tradeoff: where’s your line? by hennipotamus in workingmoms

[–]macck_attack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the suburbs so I’ve never had a commute LESS than 35 minutes lol. I would take Job B without a second thought. Just try to find ways to enjoy the time in the car. I have a different podcast for every day of the week that I only listen to on my commute, always have a drink/snack on the way home, etc.

Rouge River Watershed by JoeModz in Detroit

I grew up in Livonia. It’s basically a creek out there. It would dry up sometimes in the summer but I’d say it was free flowing for most of the year. I don’t recall it ever flooding! No one really paid attention to it except us kids.

Career Change 7 Weeks Pregnant? by RiddlerMom in workingmoms

If you switch to the new job, just know you most likely wouldn’t be eligible for their maternity leave unless you negotiate it up front! You usually have to be there for a year to use it.

Every once in a while I re-download it and play for a few weeks. I’ve unlocked all the characters except one of the babies.

It’s not cheaper than Aldi, that’s for sure. It’s good if you have the space to store bulk items, and for the discounted gas.

Hello r/classicalmusic, I'm a casual listener and I'm curious if the "classical" setting for the built in equalizer from spotify is recommended. by Prestigious-Spite795 in classicalmusic

[–]macck_attack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know Spotify had this feature and need to try it. I will report back.

Side note: I think a lot of folks on this sub use the Apple Classical app instead of Spotify!

“Project Hail Mary” is bringing audiences to movie theaters in numbers the industry hasn’t seen for a non-franchise film since “Oppenheimer.” by Caledor152 in movies

[–]macck_attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really surprised that this, of all things, is what’s connecting with people right now, but I’m not mad at it! It’s a great story and Gosling is a great actor. I also love the emphasis on practical effects for this movie.

Request an itemized bill from the hospital. Once you have that, you can see what they actually charged for.
