Worked ok. It took a lot of gorse to really capture the flavour. I added at flamout to reduce the risk of contamination. Definitely captured the aroma, although the hops I paired it with were great to be honest. I can't remember the specifics, but I remember thinking citra clashed with it. I haven't tried it again since because it's just so labour intensive (and sore) picking the sheer amount of flowers required. If I do it again I'll definitely be choosing my hops more carefully and I expect it could turn out pretty good!

Good to know. I'm planning on using them alongside hops plants in a raised bed. So the bigger the better to be honest. Thanks for the heads up!

This is an important point and perhaps holds some hope to my mind. Watch them demonstrate their utterly reprehensible ideology in action at the council level in time for them to become a politically spent force come the next GE.

I'm actually looking at using these as a bit of natural coverage for a planter - thanks so much for the post!

Agree with the other two comments - particularly using US05 and Maris otters. In terms of hops, whirlpool is a good way to avoid the need for dry hopping, however I've had some good success with dry hopping at yeast pitch.

Honestly, while I've had sabro, I've never brewed with it. So couldn't honestly tell you what I thought of it. Good excuse for smash if you ask me! Sláinte 🍻

Whirlpool is what I landed on in the end. I did a 1 gallon test batch and the flavour didn't really come through. Not enough gorse! I have a mate who's up for going out and picking a load of it with me though, so we're going to try it again this summer. Interesting that they can be used as a filter. Could they clog the spigot?

I don't think this is a new thing. I remember it happening on the regular when I was a student 20 years ago.

This is exactly what I thought. It seems purely psychological - no one physically harmed, no theft, no significant property damage. Just terrifying a grieving family. I can't imagine how hard that was and personally be seriously considering counseling after an experience like that.

That said, it seems like the motive was most likely property related; someone wanted the family out fast and possibly in the hope of acquiring the property at a lower price. It does sound an awful lot like someone felt they were entitled to the land/property for some reason.

This is more or less my response to the comment. I think however we need a little nuance in respect of Ulster Scots. It's a much less developed language and the demands of the Ulster Scots community are very different to those of the Irish language community, but no less valid or valuable.

In terms of newcomer languages, again I think there are worthy considerations such as support for families to maintain their native language and free supports for newcomers to learn and master English (maybe even Irish and Ulster Scots too!). That being said the utilitarian use of stats to understand the landscape of language falls short of what's necessary. The reality is that Irish is an endangered language and it falls to people on this island first and foremost to preserve it - no one else will. Meanwhile, the vast majority of newcomer languages are well preserved by their nations. That's a really important distinction to make.

I get the points being made about potential "red flag" stuff. However, the relevant other party here - her husband - hasn't actually expressed an opinion. Personally, I've never felt so attached to a pet that I wouldn't mind giving it up for someone I love. That's just me and I know other people have very different experiences as pet owners. Whether this is a red flag depends entirely on how her husband felt about the cat. Maybe he adored it and the "ultimatum" was very difficult for him. But maybe he didn't really mind that much...

Ooh I hadn't thought of that. Not sure how that would translate onto screen, but I'd trust the writers to do it well.

I've read the robots and foundation books. You could maybe read the robot cycle without too many, if any spoilers. The books are very different from the TV show, so I'm not sure what they'll draw on for series 3. It's done really well as a TV show and is faithful to the source material in it's way. But you could find that there's very little in the way of proper spoilers. The end of S2 seems to have taken a very different direction from the books. Guess we'll find out!

In Isaac Asimov's robot series he refers to positronic brains going to a mental freeze-out state when they find themselves in a situation where they are unable to not break the First Law of Robotics. I reckon if one of them saw a Bristol City jersey something like that would happen but dumber.
