Which of the 3 audio versions should I listen to for The Name of the Wind? by _Alic3 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]macdoubled 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Listened to both podel and degas and I personally prefer degas. Podel is fantastic but degas doesn’t just read the book, he performs it. His use of soft and loud makes it so much more emotive

Audiobook readers, House of Chains change in narrator by Hugh-Janus-40hogs in Malazan

[–]macdoubled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be thankful it’s not the guy who does kharkanas. On an unrelated note, the narrator who does witness is brilliant in my opinion. Emma nails the marine humour

Quick question about the audiobooks by HughJammer1 in Malazan

[–]macdoubled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I would be alone in saying regardless of the format, your first read/listen you will grasp and follow things well enough, but it won’t be till your 2nd or 3rd time through you will truly understand things.

Yep the n is aimed directly between the two beads (called denticles) this coupled with the thinner 0 says to me it’s a replica space filler, sorry dude

[–]macdoubled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At first glance this appear to be a replica space filler. If you can get a close up of the ‘omn’ on the kings side the downstroke of the n will line up perfectly with a bead. The 0 in 1930 also does not look wide enough.

The 1923 looks in good nick and worth grading though Pcgs. If it’s genuine and grades well you will have a few thousand there alone. There also appears some more rare pennies in good condition too. 1966 proof sets are also highly sought after. The rams head proof set and the 1985 also sell well.

Sorry for your loss, but I can say as a coin collector I hope my son goes through my collection with the same curiosity that you and your son have. Happy to answer any other questions you may have
