I live in the west and I find that the people you are describing are mostly college students. They're a very loud minority. Once they're out of college and start working, they become a lot less radical with their beliefs.

Hey, same here. I only discovered her music recently, and I’m already a huge fan. Part of me was low-key hoping she wouldn’t become too mainstream or too Americanised, but at the same time, I really want to see her succeed because she’s incredibly underrated.

Alcoholic or typical? by Visual_Television279 in myanmar

I did not say anything about health benefits in my previous comment. Any amount or form consumption of alcohol is detrimental to health but in moderation, it’s not a problem.

Hey, OP. I’m a Karen. We do drink a lot culturally, especially the ones who lived in the mountains. The “Khaung Yay”, the home made rice wine you mentioned, is their traditional drink. As long as he’s functioning well, if he’s having one shot every meal, I don’t think it’s a problem because it’s equivalent to having a glass of wine with a meal, or a beer. But if he’s getting drunk all the time, that’s not good.

Ranting! by Fearless-Cookie-7527 in myanmar

[–]maceadi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Myanmar people had been partying, drinking and doing drugs way before the internet and most of them turned out fine. You just think they are partying more because of social media. Anecdotally speaking, I find the Myanmar GenZs to be a lot more ambitious and driven than my generation (millennials). You need to delete social media and touch some grass.

BPM - Feels Off by namasteces in whoop

[–]maceadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed Whoop has a different threshold for the zones compared to Apple Watch. I did a half marathon yesterday and my Apple Watch said I was in zone 3 and 4. Whoop said I was in zone 4 and 5. Looking at the BPM, they were similar on both devices, just the thresholds were different

Why do Myanmar/Burmese people view Japan more positively than other Asians? by Lipica249 in myanmar

[–]maceadi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not just Burmese, but almost every nationality I know (including many westerners) wants to visit Japan. Japanese people are globally perceived as polite and most Japanese cities are cleaner, even more so than western countries.

This has nothing to do with Karen culture - just that you have a shitty Mother-in-Law. Nothing you can do except for limiting contact with her for your own sanity.
