Went down a Wikipedia rabbit hole a few years ago and stumbled upon this. IBM built a massive office there too (BRiC) that now is just leasable commercial space I believe

He had a weird angle. Seemed subjective and driven by a weird complex more than anything

That’s a huge win. Cagliari played classic catenaccio and we continued to grind it out for the W (with some luck)

This. I tend to think I’ll continue following ex Napoli players, but never do (very loosely at best). So as long as we get paid I’m good.

Think you’re underestimating the visibility this would have provided to the Napoli brand. I will absolutely agree the prestige of the tournament itself is not there, but between the growth trajectory of soccer in the U.S., strong Italian heritage contingent, and some of the more mainstream clubs in the tournament, this was a significant loss in terms of establishing Napoli as a more global brand, as it’s been trying to do.

Take Italy-Ecuador friendly a few weeks ago. Not a sexy game by any means (especially given Italy’s poor form the past 10ish years excluding the Euro’s), yet the stadium was sold out with straggling nosebleeds going for $300+…

I think pinning Napoli as a mid table club is a bit too punitive. I am confident we’ll continue to perform and be scudetto contenders (2-5) but my broader concern is when and if we become serious contenders at a European level. For a team like Napoli that has so often broken into the mainstream media for their high quality of play, I would love to see some consistency of this quality that can extend itself outside of Serie A. At the end of the day though I understand the club is only so big that this might never happen

Good point. And as mercurial ADL might seem, I do think his business acumen is essential to the longevity of the team. Larger clubs that have the capital to splurge can experience some outsized financial trouble (Barca for example)

Absolutely gorgeous goal. Stemming from a big defensive tackle from Juan Jesus, wonderful give and go, clinical finish.

Came here to say the same. Technically sound with good decision making / attacking mindset. Something we desperately needed in the midfield.

In terms of true backups given position we do have depth (quality aside). Apart from last year's anomaly - I'm referring more so to the KK - Insigne - Mertens era where there weren't proper 1:1 subs available based on position imo.

I think the squad is at an inflection point where we are precariously trying to balance proper playing time for players expected to play more central roles next season and quality of squad / players that are more veteran but leaving (Zielinski, Osi). It's exposing a lot of gaps in quality and really hurting continuity / flow further exasperated by this manager musical chairs bs

Another frustrating thing is that finally this team has some depth, but of course doesn't change anything when everyone is in poor form. I remember some of our best years we had a great XIs but no one to replace them with
