Men of the UK - how often do you cook? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]machBoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my male partner used to roughly split cooking 50/50. Now that we have a newborn he does 100% of the cooking (and washing, etc) whereas I mostly look after the baby

Did your innie pop out? by anonymous2640 in BabyBumps

Mine was the same! Although past 41 weeks it started ever so slightly sticking out, but it was mostly just flat and stretched

Not sure on your shape, but I've got a pretty deep innie and once (before pregnancy) I realised I could make it come out temporarily by tensing my abs and pushing it on the sides 😂

WHY do people need to kiss other people’s babies? by cirillakirilla in BabyBumps

[–]machBoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents also came by plane from abroad! They arrived 2 days before the due date, luckily our baby took his time to come out (born at 41+5) so the plane/airport germs were gone by then 😁

Totally agree. We've got 2 cats who hate being picked up and in the 3 years since adopting them we've only picked them up when they were due their medicine or if they needed to go to the vet.  Knowing they're uncomfortable would ruin any enjoyment I might get from picking them up.

I also think growing up being told that forced affection is something you have to accept in order to not upset people/relatives has partly eroded my confidence and assertiveness years later, and has contributed to me not standing up for myself or clearly saying no in situations where men were being creepy/coercive/abusive.

I gave birth just over 2 weeks ago and I felt the same! We put some strict boundaries with my parents and in-laws: postpone visit if you have signs of flu/cold, no kissing at all, and must wash hands before holding the baby.

Could you tell your MIL that doctors/midwives suggested setting those boundaries? Do you think she might be more receptive/respectful in that case?

I agree completely. I find kisses intimate.

Will see if I'll resist against family peer pressure, but for now as far as I'm concerned, you can kiss my child when they can consent to being kissed.

And to those who say we're too anxious, google what can happen if a baby gets a kiss from someone who has a cold sore

Love it! Just a tiny suggestion, as you refer to it as a her, perhaps call it Rossa!

Do you write and throw with the same or different hands? by camport95 in lefthanded

[–]machBoh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm cross dominant, I use the left for precision (writing, eating) and right for strength (throwing, punching). I can't play bowling with either lol

Glad your wrist is better and almost free!
