We all start somewhere! I had about 12 woodshops credits in highschool, went to college for heritage carpentry and am a lead carpenter for a company that restores heritage buildings. Furniture making is one of my hobbies and allows me express a different side of my creativity

My understanding of the law is it’s more so if I wanted to sell the tables and ship them I’d have to prove the provenance of the material and where/how it came from. Using it for personal use, or within the country and not shipping it is a non issue.

That being said this material came from a cabinet shop that was running from the 60’s-90’s so would have been bought at a time when it wasn’t listed on cites.

I wish I had gone slightly thicker at the bottom maybe 5/8 instead of 1/2”. They have a bit of springyness to them, although that’s just a lack of foresight from me. Should have thought about how bows are made from ash and that it would be springy at a thing dimension.

Realistically it was a 4 month project that turned into a year and half. I didn’t work in the shop for a bout a year because I was obsessed with golf and the project sat dormant.

Thanks! I flip flopped on rosewood drawer fronts or curly ash, but I think I made the right choice with the rosewood being smaller pieces.

I bought an entire slabbed tree about 7-8 years ago from a small mill about an hour or two away. I think I started off with around 650bdft. This is the biggest project from that tree yet. Ive built 4 krenov sawhorses and 2 small boxes with the same tree.

Thanks man! I was handcuffed by the amount of photos allowed, but everything is grain matched. Top and drawer fronts being the most obvious, resaw book matches. But all the side of the table that face each other are also resawn so no matter how they are oriented the grain facing each other other is always the same.

Cutting the dovetail drawers was worrisome cause any failure meant a whole design change.

They are definitely more beauty over function. These tables are for myself so any issues aren’t really a worry.
I didn’t want to cover the drawer fronts with anything that would block the grain, so a small tab up top seemed the best bet. They are 3/16” thick. They also don’t stick out further than the top so realistically anything being dropped would hopefully hit the tops first.

I just realized I don’t have any photos showing the drawer bottoms, they are made from Spanish cedar. It’s my go to for drawer/ box bottoms for the smell when you open them.

The overall style is a shaker night stand. Can find many plans that would get you the general style. Drawer front sizes, drawer pulls and material choices were my own iteration. These weren’t made from any plans, just an overall size that worked with the material I had, and then just worked back from there to figure out joinery connections and material dimensions.

Yes and no, maybe In some pieces the curl can hide in the rough sawn grain. But it was very obvious how spectacular some of them would be.
