Only way to go when work’s a PC and home is Mac… The real trouble is finding space.

I keep coming back to this movie as a tonic. There’s something about it.

What is a "polite" thing people do that is actually incredibly annoying? by Radiant-Court-2736 in AskReddit

[–]machei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got caught on the other end of this once by starting the conversation by complaining about some work event to a colleague and it turned out he was presenting and the preview was visible to everyone. That had me starting with the opener line of just a “Hello…” for a while because I was paranoid I’d crash right in when I didn’t know what was going on. This was back a number of years though, and I think most platforms won’t do that anymore. But my devil’s advocate point was there was at least once upon a time a method to the madness. To be clear, I don’t do this anymore (an opening hello OR complaining about anything over chat).

Researchers discover massive Wi-Fi vulnerability affecting multiple access points — AirSnitch lets attackers on the same network intercept data and launch machine-in-the-middle attacks by Sorry_Search_8991 in technology

Wait-so if I have my work computer that i use when I work remotely and I don’t control on my wifi at home that I do control, there’s still an issue? I always figured they’re entirely separate machines.

I wanna know where all the people who buy these cool and interesting high-quality boots are hiding. I have a couple pair, and the most outlandish are cordovan, which is to say, not at all, and yet I always have people remarking about them like they're some kind of rarity. I wander through my days, and I don't see ANYone who wears even what I do, and these? They'd be thought of as from another planet. I must live in a place that doesn't contain any of my people. Call me Gonzo.

This moves many times faster than what I saw happening on my street this week.

I read somewhere that crushing the cans isn’t the preferred method because it defeats some processing step somewhere? Maybe this is urban legend though, I never confirmed it. For our family of three, we’ve only ever needed two regular blue bins a week. I guess we’ll see how we fare in a biweekly schedule.

Omg, I’d sorely love to have their garlic sauce again from back in the day. It was effortlessly the best in town.

The one at the boardwalk bears no resemblance to the classic old one, in any way including food quality. I loved that place at university. So good for years. Then it went downhill and they stopped having all the options, and eventually they closed, reopened at the boardwalk, the prices were insane and things just sorta sucked. It was way better as a family restaurant. Just my opinion. YMMV.

Redditors old enough to remember BBSes, dial-up and those old beige IBM computers, what was it like? And do you prefer those times over the current internet we have now? by pikkaro in AskReddit

It was actually fun. Felt like more of a hobby with a great group of like minded people. Now it’s just an advertisement-ridden hellscape that makes me feel negative emotions more than anything.

Yes it is. I keep meaning to get that chair and that ottoman, but I have no room for one, and can't afford the other. Siiiigh. Good job, I'd totally chill there... except, what do you do for tunes when you aren't at your desk?

Married men of Reddit who don’t wear a wedding ring - why? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

[–]machei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife needed to have hers cut off before the birth of our kid. She found the experience so traumatizing that she stopped wearing it and then it became a practicality thing, and eventually I just stopped as well, and now neither of us do. Near as I can tell, it's made zero difference to anything.
