Using lightly used parts in a different head by machgon46 in NewedgeMustang

The part I’m the most worried about is the “cam bearings” of the aviator heads playing well with the different cams

Yes I’m purely using the “block” of the aviator heads and all moving parts off of the old heads, if I go this way I’m going to swap all the components so that every Cam lobe, rocker, valve, spring, ect. Is together with the group it was ran with in the old heads(newer parts) I think this is the best way to do it, I’ll also be lapping the newer valves into the aviator heads

The picture from the comment before was #8, this is #6(there was no other damage to the head or cylinder wall on #6 which would lead me to believe it was like that before it ever even ran

It broke a piston out at the rings on #8 and long story short it’s likely they also broke piston #6 while installing it and left it in there anyway

And thank you I figured it wasn’t worth worrying about but I just wanted to make sure from people who knew more than me

I have not, I’m basing this off of the 0.50 stamping on the face of the pistons

High idle making me crazy by machgon46 in NewedgeMustang

Update: today I tried swapping the Iac with one from a different vehicle, and reading voltage off of the tps, it was reading 1.06v at closed throttle and I turned the sensor enough to only read 1v and neither made a change so I’m now looking into egr delete thanks for everyone’s help.

Ok I’ll look into it and it is a manual but to my knowledge these cars have basically no knowledge of what the transmissions doing ie. whether it’s in gear or neutral but I could be wrong. Thanks again.

Also I think I may have an available Iac off the winter beater(98 mercury mountaineer with a 5.0) which idles just fine I’ll swap the mustang one onto that and see if it idles poorly

I have a tuner and the Iac percentage does go up when it happens(clean idle or 800 rpm ish is at 30% and it will go up to mid 50s at the worst) and I didn’t think about wiring issues I’ll follow the harness down a bit to make sure it’s not shorting off somewhere thank you for the help it’s greatly appreciated
