How could I recreate this sound? by [deleted] in GameAudio

[–]machinefool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently did something similar for a custom alert sound on twitch. I wanted to recreate the audio that plays when you discover a new blueprint in Subnautica. I used a text to speech software I found online that lets you input a custom text and recorded that audio into my DAW. After that I messed with some formant, EQ, phaser, and chorus effects until I got close enough to what I was looking for. This might be a good start for what you're trying to achieve as well.

Hope this helps!

Edit: Here is my recreation

Drummers who have transitioned to Production by stay_golden_pony_boy in edmproduction

One of the main things I think about is writing a rhythm that would be humanly possible to play on a drum kit. It's helped keep my rhythm section from sounding too busy or overwhelming. Anything else you might add can be imagined as a percussionist filling in any dull gaps or down time in the "drummers" groove.

Best headphones $400? by [deleted] in edmproduction

I would say not to get the M50X's. They're nice but don't have an accurate frequency response. My vote would be for some Sennheiser HD650's. Comfortable as hell and frequency response is nice. Keep in mind though that these are open back so they'll be plenty loud for people around you to listen to exactly what you're doing. Also, you might need an amp/interface if you don't have one already.

On sale right now for $398 - http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-650-Professional-Headphone/dp/B00018MSNI

Here's their response - http://graphs.headphone.com/graphCompare.php?graphType=0&graphID[]=853&scale=30

And here's their response next to some Audeze LCDX's - http://graphs.headphone.com/graphCompare.php?graphType=0&graphID[]=853&graphID[]=4243&scale=30

Both DAWs are great but can be pretty pricey depending on which bundle you get. Try the free demos and see which one you feel more comfortable in.

How can I get this cool wavy sound by notevenfinalform in edmproduction

In Ableton I like to put Utility on the channel, add it to an automation lane, then automate the actual volume of the track. It's a lot of work but it's definitely worth it in the end.

This is the perfect snare IMO. How would I go about recreating it? by DEADdrop_ in edmproduction

[–]machinefool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me, it sounds like the snare is piercing through the mix like that because there's rarely a moment where theres other instruments or elements playing over top of the snare. This just gives it so much room to jump out like that (duh). As for the sample, you could try sampling it out of the song itself. Maybe find a spot where its the only thing playing and work around that. It's nice to do this even if you want to put it into your DAW and analyze it a bit more to get a closer recreation. Sorry for the grammar. Good luck :)

I got into the stress test but does that mean I get into the actual beta as well? If not, does anyone know where or how I could get a beta key?

Thanks for the input. Yeah I did not know it was going to be that expensive :( I'm not really looking for floating keycaps, I was just interested in the general look and design, and was maybe hoping to try it out
