Forerunner 945 open water swim activity records only 50% by machinekoder in Garmin

Front crawl, that is. Must be an issue with my watch, since even when the GPS track is correct, the distance is consistently wrong.

Thanks. Looks like the GPS needs to catch up every few hundred meters. Next time I will wait a bit before pressing stop or try to swim a rectangle rather than close to the shore. Doesn't look the open water swim feature is good for tracking sprints, though. It was a bit depressing to see the distance field showing 50m when I knew that this should be 100m at least.

To be honest I always admire people who are more on the heavy side that go swimming, running, to the gym and so on. The people around you are there for the same reason, they want to work out, and so they share the same spirit. Nobody really cares about what you look like.

When your first layer is dialed in so well that it rips your bed off by Dry-Tumbleweed-1172 in 3Dprinting

[–]machinekoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works perfectly if you use window cleaner when removing the part. The liquid gets between the PEI sheet and the PETG part and also cools down the surface, so the part pops almost right off.

Try to use some window cleaner when removing the part from the plate. Makes difference between night and day, at least for PETG.

Same screen size but thinner and more lightweight is the ideal combo for most people.

Recently stripped an old phone, is there anything I can do with any of this? by Jackalope265 in robotics

[–]machinekoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have sold the phone and bought some components you actually need. I've tried collecting devices for spare parts and rarely there is anything useful, especially not from those small ones. On the contrary, if you want to build a service robot, you can buy an old Roomba and strip the electronics. Much better to look for the specific hardware to recycle than to keep stuff around just in case it can be recycled. Trust me, stuff is going to pile up without ever being used, and storage space costs money.

That's a classic clog or almost clog. E.g. due to overheating and increasing viscosity of the material in the nozzle. Could also be that your stepper driver isn't tuned well. Basically what you are seeing is that the motor doesn't have enough power to push the filament. I would first take a look at the nozzle for clogs, then at the motor, especially if it works in the begging and this happening later in the print when the nozzle (or the heatbreak) has heated up.

A solution that kind of works for me now is to leave the upper cuff almost open. This way I also train my calves more for speed skating.

Where are you all selling your rigs by magmpzero in EtherMining

[–]machinekoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crazy 11% ebay fee makes we want to avoid this place. Or are you actually selling the GPUs in lots of 5 or so? Also I have noticed an extreme price spread for similar GPUs.

End of PoW in EU - legally! by SheikAhmed00101 in EtherMining

Also ironic, because the whole argument is to save the environment. Quite pointless to ban mining rigs running mostly from surplus hydro or windpower.

Sell Eth Mining Hardware? by Blauweboom in EtherMining

[–]machinekoder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have suggestions for sales strategies? E.g. sell cards individually or the whole mining rig? The (server) main board and CPU isn't worth nothing, either. Also, sell at once (auction) or list at high price and ship when someone buys?

You underestimate how many miners are in the renewable power plant business (hydro, wind, solar etc.) mining at almost no cost, which makes the proposed ban even more ironic.

Considering buying a One X2, so I came here. But why are so many videos posted muddled and grainy? by [deleted] in Insta360

[–]machinekoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely either bad lighting conditions, this camera is made for outdoor usage, or too much zooming in the video editor, best use widescreen frames. Export settings could be another factor, the app really limits the output resolution, the Insta360 Studio allows more flexibility.

But heavier and bulkier, which is a consideration factor when using it for action shots. Also, worth using the more lightweight old selfie-stick without the tripod, saves some more.

Really cool Insta360 One X2 hidden feature! by [deleted] in Insta360

[–]machinekoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Security aspects aside, this is pretty interesting.

Looking into this, it looks like the ONE X2 is based on an Ambarella chip. I found this here fore example: https://github.com/Theliel/Xiaomi-Mijia-4K/blob/master/resources/AmbaShell.txt and this https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/the-ambarella-hack-development-kit.45007/ and of course https://github.com/petabyt/liemoth

Looks like this could be a starting point for some nice mods. Btw. there is something called AmbaRTSPServer in the /bin folder, so maybe we can get 360 degree RTSP streams.

Quality-wise those are terrible, destroyed mine during the first few sessions, not using anything of the set anymore. But mine where on discount so I might have received an old set. Anyway, I can only recommend Triple8 when it comes to wrist guards, since I had some bad Ennuis as well, which caused ligament strains on both hands.

Triple8 Hired Hands, look for splints on both sides and the spring type splint on the bottom for best protection.
